sudden leaf yellowing then browning

Hello, i am very new to growing and im not sure what is happening. Over the past week some of the leaves have developed a yellow discoloration in the leaf which then turns browns. The leaves that are discoloured feel dry and brittle, but the other leaves feel normal. This seems to be happening on the older leaves. I grow outside in soil. Any help would be appreciated.

The soil mix i am using is 2 parts garden soil from the hardware store, 1 part coco peat and 1 part perlite. For the nutrients I have been using a product by Amgrow called nitrosol. It has an NPK of 12-2-13 with 1.3% calcium and 7.3% sulphur. I use this once a week. As for the environment I am in a very warm humid climate, and it has been raining a bit lately. Looking at the nutes I notice it doesnt have any magnesium, but dont think these sort of symptoms could be caused from magnesium deficiency.

Ok, so I assume you’re in Australia based on some of the products. I’m no expert but I’ve been troubleshooting continuously with my grow and would like to be some support to you.

Now I’m going to tell you what I would do, proceed at your own risk! I would LET my pots get dry enough and give a feeding with plain, PH’d water. See how they react over the next day or so.

Next feeding, dose the fertilizer at half strength, depending on your type of water, the plants HAVE to receive a calcium and magnesium supplement.


Do you use purified water? If so, I can guarantee you that, Your plants need calcium and magnesium. I was coached by a seasoned grower to use full strength or half strength of CALiMAGic(general hydroponics)every OTHER feeding when using RO(purified) water.

Here are my plants (clones) from a California dispensary. I am using peat moss and perlite. I struggled quite a bit with them - then I started to feed them properly

Hmmmm, looking at the plant with the brown tips, yellowing, and going crispy I would say a potassium deficiency. Check the pH of the water runoff, make sure you're not overwatering, and I am wondering if you used lime with the peat moss. Peat moss has a really low pH and should be balanced with some lime.

Light burn to my eye
