Did you still keep water temperature in the upper sixties, or increase it ?
The BEST, by all available data, is to use some sort of aquarium cooler and a rez to control temps. That's just impossible in my situation, so I just let er rip in the middle of summer. Rez temps in the 80's, even now. With ECOFIX... no problems. I'm not saying in a lab there might not be SOME advantages to a cool rez, but the idea that once it hits 70+*F it's instant death and the solution will turn anaerobic and root rot will set in just isn't true.

One of the biggest reasons for cooler water, is it holds more DO, making it harder for anaerobic bacteria to take hold. Not to mention, 80° seems excessive for the roots.
