One in 22 Blacks will get HIV, CDC Report Says









For years it was seen as the “gay, White man’s disease.” But the face for HIV/AIDS has long since changed, bearing a much darker complexion.

According to published reports, health officials estimate that one in 22 African Americans will be diagnosed with the AIDS virus in their lifetime — more than twice the risk for Hispanics and eight times that of Whites. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported the numbers last week; noting the lifetime risk is one in 52 for Hispanics, and one in 170 for Whites. According to the report, Asian Americans had the lowest lifetime risk, at about one in 222.

I thought it was long thought/known that people of African heritage of higher-risk. It runs rampant because of tw odd cultural traditions practised and lack of contraception. It's a bit vague to say 'blacks' though, oriental, indian and Anerindians are often categorized as 'black'... By student societies anyway 0_o

But anyway the fact of the matter is 1) Don't sleep around 2) Wrap it up unless you are in a monogamous relationship with someone you trust and have other forms of birthcontrol 3) If you're really worried, both of you get tested.

Make a date of it and go get screened for EVERYTHING just for the hell of it. You get freebies these days... They gave me awesome boxers that say 'I've been tested!'

IDK about your first paragraph, I have been oriental all my life, and never been categorized as 'black', although I did have an indian (not American Indian) tell me he was asian.

Condoms are unnatural but yeah if a woman wants to sleep with guys who have Aids she should probably make them wear one, but if you are going to mix I would think about Dr Watsons research and consider it before you breed.

India IS in the continent of Asia *giggle* I know it's silly, but my student society and some other groups like to categorize everyone who isn't white as 'black'. It's weird, but then again some people consider all latinos (not talking about Cubas, Puerto Ricans, Brazilians etc but light skinned people) as 'black'; I read a good number of Spaniards (the original lighter skinned Iberian peoples) have a tiny percentage of African blood, because they are so close to North Africa... then again alot of those Africans are very light-skinned. Some people theorize they share ancient links with the chinese. Got to say some tribes look exactly chinese.

And many people debate whether many Eastern European people's should be considered 'black' for some odd reason.. Albanians are a mixed up bunch it has to be said..

You'd look at me and categorize me as black, but I'm indian, amerindian, chinese and white so.... yeah. Technically I'm asian.
I think I'll type up my student society's lame reason for calling everyone black lol.

But yeah.. Aids is rampant amongst men of African heritage in particular. Hey, read the regional analysis and that'll tell you why they tell you no nookie before marriage at church/mosque ;-)

But I think it's perfectly fine if you're in a committed relationship and are responsible..
