Sunlight HPS 150w in Canada

Hi guys!
I'm looking to buy a sunlight HPS 150w in Canada.
I saw a tread about this already but it was from 2009 and the sites listed seem to not ship to my address... Any idea? There is a hydroponic store around my work, but they sell it for 150$. Looking for a bit cheaper and now that I've seen the prices online I'm hoping for a better deal...

if your a handyman you can just go to Rona or Home Depot and buy a HPS yard light, splice a cord onto it and some side hooks to hang it with and voila a grow light !

DIY is a good way to go. it's cheaper and it separates the ballast which means less heat on the canopy. i have that 150 watt and wish I would have went with a DIY with remote ballast.

That's awesome, didn't realize you could buy HPS light at the home depot! For SURE going DIY! Is there anything I should be looking for? Is there different types of ballast? I read that some ballast pull a lot of power, how do I know which one is more efficient? Is there different types of HPS bulb?

bulbs at home depot arent for growing. they are security bulbs and dont have the same colour rendering. r and m supply in cali is the suplier of those ballast/hoods. i used to sell them up here in canada
the ballast in those are a mag type. and run way hotter and less efficient than a digital. but are cheeper as well.

there is horti grade or reg. not all are equal. and what i see in that security light is a mh.
im not saying dont make one. just understand its not a horticulture type colour to them. they are like street lights. cheep mass produced where colours arent number 1 concern

I got another Question : i have a florabloom 15w 150w equivalent flowering LED and a Vigorous Veg 13w 150w equivalent LED... First question is While flowering only on the Florabloom LED till 1 week untill its done can i change the light to full spectrum on it by putting both the LED's in? And other question is by putting both those lights together does that equal a 300w led?

yep almost the same as mine .. had to diy the guts out of the housing it came in and put it in a hood and remote the ballast .. cheap and worth it

donno but your sure your not thinking of the mercury vapour ones .. the hps security lights are sold at rona and home depot here , but right beside them are the mv ones --> street lights

15 watts is 15 watts., those comparison are a fraud. they compare to reg house lights as does cfl. you have a total of 28 watts

well all my hps are skinny and mh are the fatter ones. so maybe the cheeepr security bulbs dont make the same shaped tubes
