what the hell. You're trying to say a 42 watt cfl puts out more lumens than the sun? It's summer buddy not fall or winter the sun is out longer. Especially after june 15th or 17th the days will be really long.
We don't know how many hours of direct sunlight he's getting. If the plant is only getting like 5-6 hours of direct sunlight and the rest is in shade then it's going to stretch. Then again I'm just assuming he's not getting adequate light. I guess there could be another reason the plant is stretching so much. I forgot where I read this from, but don't most modern windows block out certain parts of the suns rays?

No this is not what I'm saying. I'm an outdoor grower so I KNOW the sun puts out more lumens than any artificial lighting, but when you have the sun passing through a window (that may have dust particles and what not on it) then the light your plants would be receiving would be FILTERED, there for making them stretch. Even if you were to put them outside under a shade tree in dappled shade they would be getting more DIRECT sunlight incorporated with the passing shade from the shade tree causing them to grow without burning or stretching . I'm speaking from what I have experienced. Apparently I didn't go into detail enough for some people. But this is what I meant by my statement. The WINDOW would be causing them to stretch not the SUN.

The more I look at other peoples grows the more I realise my plant looks really fucked :(
It's all good dude, the grow just started. You still have plenty of time to correct this problem. Once you get the proper lighting set up just bury the stem a bit and keep going like it never happened. The quicker you fix this problem the better your plant will be.

Idk if you have already, but if you have to pry the seed shell off be sure to use tweezers and and be VERY gentle.
