SUPER cheap CFL reflectors

Hey Guy's, wanted to share an idea I came up with last night. I've been trying to locate a cheaper way to "reflect" my CFL's, over the usual $8/9 for the "clamp-on" reflector assembly's. So, this is what I came up with:

A 100' X 50" roll of "Gable Barrier", from Polar-Ply:

Cut 16.5" squares:3-4-2011 How to make CFL reflector 001.jpg

Cut out circle:3-4-2011 How to make CFL reflector 002.jpg3-4-2011 How to make CFL reflector 003.jpg

Cut small hole in center:3-4-2011 How to make CFL reflector 005.jpg

Cut straight line from center to edge:3-4-2011 How to make CFL reflector 006.jpg

Pull into conical shape and tape.

Put the "screw in" end of bulb through the cone:3-4-2011 How to make CFL reflector 007.jpg

And hook it up, Viola! 35 cent CFL reflectors:3-4-2011 How to make CFL reflector 010.jpg

Wishing all, Good luck & good grow.......BB bongsmilie

thanks for this! I was starting to look into reflectors for my next grow and this will be a lot better for me than buying some reflectors!

Thanks for looking in LRS, hope this works for you as well as they've worked for me. LOL, it's amazing the shit that comes to mind when one is high on cannabis. Good luck & good grow.......BB

Hey Homer, the barrier is from Polar-Ply. Not sure of the retail price; I traded some seeds for my roll. It's been an excellent wall covering in my grow areas, as well as a perfect material for the light reflectors I came up with. You might Google polar-Ply and go from there.
Good luck & good grow.......BB

OK Homer, an alternate and maybe easier cone material, would be a disposable aluminum pie pan. Comes pre-cut circular, just go from there. Try a local Dollar Tree, 99Cent Only Store, whatever, for them. BTW, my local 99Cent Only Store has been a "goldmine" of cheap, utilitarian items for the grow. Examples?: 6 ft extension cords with 3 outlet end, air tight storage containers, 500 ft rolls of green plastic floral tape or plastic coated wire tie, on roll with cutter, 22/30 oz heavy glass apothecary jars. I mean some really great deals, IF you look around. Wishing ALL, Good luck & good grow.......BB

I'm with you on that bro. I'm using a plant hanger upside down as a sort of scrog, at the dollar tree. All sorts of useful stuff there.

Thanks for the tip on the pie pan!

That is a such an good idea, and simple too! I can make that reflector:lol: I'm thinking that I could use some reflective insulation that I am using in my grow room to make a reflector. You are so right about the things that we think of while bongsmilie

Hi Ms, thanks for the peek in, and pleasant comments. I was thinking that this Type of cfl reflector could be commercially produced, pre-punched, with adjustable "neck-hole" sizing, and a variety of sizes, (8",12", 16",etc.), and for super cheap!
LOL, to be 20 years younger, and still have a little of that Entrepeneur blood left. I believe someone could make a tidy sum from this. Oh well.....Good luck & good grow.......BB
