Lying awake at night... thinking. This planting tall plants at an angle, yeah, I'm all in for that. Now, a new twist. (Sun, east & west) Lay one due east, another, due west, over- lap the root system 3 1/3 to 4 ft. apart. Now, what do we have. 2 Ladies with a close by, but not too close, rooting system area to water & feed at one time. In 2 months... Cover of High Times. (or the post office, where my Family Album is maintained by the great State of Texas) None of this negates the super cropping, topping, etc. This is a new idea, a name is needed. How's "Split Tail Growing" sound ???? Rock On People.

Please elaborate on you idea here are you suggesting that the root systems be intertwined? or places very close to one another?

I'm glad you ask that question. Overlap, the rooting system laying east is 3 1/2 to 4 ft. WEST of the root ball facing of the Lady laying west. Overlap is the wrong term. Off-set root balls 4' ft, so.. if you are on the south side, looking north, the root ball laying east is at your left, & the Lady laying west will be at your right, with 4'ft. between root balls.
I don't know how else to say it. But, root training & competition of nutes comes into play, which is what I would like to deal with, once we are on the same page.

Just got in from the Pea Patch. Time to think. After all the planting is done,the stalks will cross (X) at the certain angle, about 8 inches to 12 inches above ground. That's the best I can do. 4 months later, ... potential is 7 lbs per = 14 lbs without having to make a step to feed & etc. That's the best I can do.

I see what you mean now the plants cross at the base of the stem above ground. then the root grow away from each other to the east and west. Ya?

OK,, I think I have a good example. Two Ladiies, planted 4 ft. apart. OK?. Now, the one on the right, kick that Bitch to the left. The Bitch on the left, drop-kick to the right, each at 30 degree angles, stems cross.... Yes? Now feed.

"Alice's Restaruant", Arleo. G. Look at all the big dog Ladies... , top colas, etc. All lower branches, not so. Now, what if the Bitch was layed on Her side.... What branch is THE top cola ??? Certainly not EVERY branch exposed to adequate sunlight, like the pics we see. But, I repeat, slow ass, with the angle, each branch will compete to be THE top Cola...... 20 or 50, as opossed to what we read. Do you think a lower branch has different goals than the top branch??? Each has the same potential, if given same allotted sun light. The absorbition of roots nutritional intake is the same. Yes?
