Super Expensive Seeds

Been growing for just over a year now and have grown White Widow, Blueberry, Bubble Gum and a few others from seed. I have paid between $30 and $190 for seeds. From my limited experience it does seem that you get what you pay for.

I have seen some outrageously expensive seeds ($500-$3000). Are there any seeds out there that are truly worth this much, or is it just a straight con? Anyone have experience with these seeds?

well i have heard of people paying up to $3,000 for a couple of clones, so i guess it would be possible to have seeds out there that costs 500. reservoir has seeds that are 200. in my opinion some of the genetics of these clones are top notch but charging crazy amounts of money for them has become the norm for this industry.
i cant see why people just cant share or at least charge a reasonable amount for them.

i have also been to countless websites where there are only a handful of members that hold a certain cut.. many wont share and if you do become lucky enough to get something that is considered elite, you have to do a bunch of ass kissing or pay a redicululous amount of money.

i guess it all boils down to if everyone had it, no one would make money... which i cant see that case. maybe it boils down to the attention, maybe not. maybe they just dont want seed banks capitalizing off of their work.

i wouldnt mind seeing some of these seed banks on the web offer some good genetics... maybe chem dog, some of kromes work, some of the cali stuff, elite had good stuff also, but the industry has become all about money and who you know.

In my exp you get what you pay for really but some seedbanks take the piss with the high prices they charge for some seed strains. But I don't mind paying as long as I get the quality I'm after.

places like the doggies nuts or bcseeds are out of their heads charging that kinda scratch for ten beans.. there is no strain on earth worth three hundred bucks a bean, and especially not the garbage that you get for that money from bcseeds.. absolute scam..
but saying that, if your looking for a rare say, og raskal strain or something similar, your gonna pay out the ass for it, and is it worth it? probably.. rarity breeds high dollars in the cannabis world..

I would pay thousands for a clone knowing it came from a plant with genetics superior to anything I've see before. Seeds OTOH are like playing the lottery. Even unstable F2's can give you a winner in a pack of 10. The difference is when you pay top dollar for genetics from a breeder who has a great reputation and years of experience (serious seeds, mr nice, sensi), you're no longer playing the lottery necessarily, your beans will be a lot more uniform and the likelihood that you get that 'winner' will be greatly increased.

What I'm saying is 'shop by breeder or seed company, not the price'. The price range you're referring to tells me you've found the bcseeds site which is a scam.

Totally agree with you racerboy71

I'm not gonna lie, I really don't see the reason to continually buy seeds from people online period. I would just buy a pack or two of some good genetics, and straight up breed them! Epigenetics and hybrid vigor can make the seeds you paid a considerable amount for pay for themselves 10x with other seeds you created with better genetics. Not to mention you could always just clone good phenos.

Anything 3K this year will be sold for $150 next year.

Agreed. Although I have not done this myself i've been meaning to but since i only grow for personal i gotta make sure I got enough bud to last my nausea for the months necessary (since i flower outdoor and anytime i put a male out there i can't expect any non-seeded bud. But plan to pollinate some clones I grow from seed before I flower the actual plants to test them out.

I do have a plant a friend seeded from my seeds for me which I have out flowering alone now. Its DJ Shorts F13 X Subcool Flav Male.

BUT from what I read when you breed your seeds, never breed a strain against itself, get that hybrid vigor and cross two strains you love and see their lovechild. might be better than the parents.
