So this is the first time I am growing/taking care of a plant. Of any kind. Ever.
Marijuana has become a staple in my life ever since I realized it was really efficient at helping me live with chronic pain and mood disorders.
For the first time ever I had the opportunity to grow my own but it happened so quickly and I had to take the opportunity cause the window was narrow. It's left me pouring over tons of information on the Internet however, to the point of being overwhelmed.
So I'm reaching out thinking it's got to be best to ask for feedback from people that already have a handle on this.
So here's what's going on. Someone gave me a plant of strawberry cough 3 weeks ago from their indoor grow. It originated as a clone in March and was put in its current container in May. I don't know what kind of soil its in.
So I brought it home and put it in a camping tent. This sounds ridiculous to me so I'm sure it will sound ridiculous to many of you. It seems to be working though. The dimensions are 192 in W x96 in D x74 in H. All the window and door screens are kept open 24/7 and the entire top of the tent is also a screen left uncovered 24/7. I was told it was on a light schedule of 24 hours a day light so I put it in a spot where it gets sun as long as the sun is out. It's been getting good breezes daily. I'm worried about wildlife being an issue and the tent seemed like the most viable option that I currently had.
This is the picture I took the day I put it in the tent.
It's been 3 weeks and since then I check the soil one to two times a day to check for dampness by sticking my finger in knuckle deep in a few spots. When it doesn't really seem moist anymore I put tap water that's been sitting out for a minimum of 24 hours in because I was told that's how it was being watered. I haven't actually paid attention to how much water I'm putting in. I just put enough in so that the soil seems moist and the water still runs well out the bottom. I would say it ends up getting watered every other day.
Last week I noticed some of the tips of the leaves near the top had turned brown. I thought it was because I hadn't given it nutrients yet so before even searching for a diagnosis I panicked and gave it half a dose of this which is not what I was told to get but since I couldn't find that specifically I opted for this hoping for the best.
Later that day I found pictures depicting nutrient burn that looked just like my leaves and so I thought maybe it was that which now that I'm thinking about it doesn't make sense because I wasn't giving it nutrients. Anyway I thought it was and haven't given it nutrients again. The point is in the 3 weeks that I've had it I've only given it nutrients once. I've done nothing else but make sure it gets water and sunlight and trim lightly maybe 3 times.
Since the brown tips showed up I've always had at least one leaf a day with a tip that has been either brown or lately white. I also have white to yellow spots. The latest addition are holes in a couple leaves. Which is having me thinking about bugs. The current plan is to possibly treat for bugs, get the plant into a larger container, prepare an area in my yard so it can get out of the tent, move it to said area, continue watering the way I am until someone tells me better or I finally read one of the articles on water ph which I'm ashamed to admit I have not. I'd like to find the nutrients I was told to get but am uncertain on how often it's needed. Other than that I'm just trying to get educated still. So here are the pictures of the plant from today, including pictures displaying some of the issues I'm having. There is also a side by side of the day I put the plant in the tent vs the plant today.
Any input or feedback on what I need to continue, stop, alter, or add to what I'm already doing to make sure I get something harvestable from this is appreciated immensely.
