Super simple hoop house DIY

Those do look nice. And I like the choices that they offer. Their arch tube metal is huge too. I'll bet they'll take a lot of abuse from the elements.
The price doesn't seem too bad either. Way more than I was allowed to spend though. The lady of the house would have shot me in the foot or maybe a little higher.
In the end mine cost less than a grand. But who knows how long mine will last. The ones you are looking at will probably still be in good shape (minus the six mil) long after we are dead and gone. Very nice stuff.

That's the plan. If it was out of my bank account the GF would probably have a panic attack which is why I'm selling about 15% of the company to investors for the startup/first years costs (including labor/trimmers)...

I do also want a personal one for my veggies but that's a luxury item that comes AFTER I get my business going.
 
I have seen older 20x100' hoop houses locally for sale anywhere from 1-2k.... disassemble and replace the plastic for a few hundred and you're in business.

It's galvanized steel for the frame on anything worth buying so the frame as you said, outlive us.

That was/is my initial plan BUT I haven't seen any good sales lately/don't want to base my business startup on the random chance something shows up.

Definitely worth looking into- I do PVC for my small tunnels/row cover. Never really considered it for my light DEP hoop house...

What part of "Tornado Alley"? I live pretty close to Moore, Ok and it's supposed to have the highest rate of tornadoes on the planet lol. Having a storm shelter is a must in around here.

I could be wrong, but I don't think that High Tunnel greenhouses have end walls. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you might have to add a "End wall kit" to your order. It's a good link though, I'm still looking at it.
 
It looks like the Bootstrap Farmer 20' wide frame is only 11.5ft high and Zimmerman's 30' wide is 14' peak and 6' sidewalls. Bootstrap Farmer doesn't give a sidewall height. It looks like the endwalls are $750ea and you will need 2x, so that adds $1,500 but I'm still sold on the dimensions vs Bootstrap...

Funny story, I had one of the OP's threads saved in my toolbar. Anytime @doublejj says anything, try to suck it up like a sponge! He keeps saying that the cost of a greenhouse will pay for itself in one harvest. Plus, I think that everyone is about to get a 2nd round of stimulus checks, not the $6k that they were talking about but it should be a lot like the 1st checks and they are supposed to do it before Nov 4th elections. I could be wrong, but that should be around $1,200 for adults and $500 for children. I hope that I'm not just wishing and dreaming though...

They definitely will. One plant at retail from the medical dispensary more than pays for mine. They are now charging $20/g and $60 an eighth. That's the reason the lady of the house finally said, "FINE!", when I told her my plan for the summer fun project :bigjoint:

I might have missed it if that wasn't on their description but I'm used to buying and refurbishing older hoop houses (when I was still farming veggies for a living) and it's pretty easy to fabricate an end wall out of 2x4, wiggle wire, and poly fabric...

Lol back in the day I was stationed over at tinker and lived in Moore up until 3 months before the big one took out the movie theater....

My grow will be about 20 miles south of Tulsa once it's up and going.

Here is the link that I was referring to earlier, I meant to post it. Anytime Double JJ post pics of his greenhouse, it's insane. I think that he is running 600gal smart pots and the greenhouse looks very similar to the link that you left. Scroll down to the end of the 1st page to see his greenhouse. A light dep greenhouse will probably have to be the next step. I decided to go as cheap as possible this time just to get things rolling. A good harvest could pay off my house and get me thinking bigger but gotta do step #1 first, which is a hoop house. I suppose that it's cool that you are farther away so we don't see ourselves as competition or whatever, but I don't think that it's even like that. There are so many bogus growers around us. I can't even buy dispensary weed because it's been sprayed with something.

Agreed, and not just spraying but over dried under ripe crappy weed. I've even seen dispensaries (Nirvana) resort to selling fertilized weed for their "lower shelf" option.

I don't think good growers have to worry about competing with each other, the real issue is finding a niche market. With the 6k plus growers in Oklahoma there is an influx of crap weed happening right now. Most of that will end up turned into shatter which means the market for small growers is high end/niche extracts and QUALITY flower.

For me that's going to be high CBD strains for flower and rosin/live rosin for extracts.

I do totally agree about the distance being a good thing... you get OKC and I'll get rich off Tulsa and then we can throw the first ever Roll-it-up gathering in Oklahoma after the pandemic... and we can team up business wise if needed now and then since we're not in direct competition.

Right, the market is so big that we could be neighbors and not even be in direct competition. Really, I'm probably going to Norman with my stuff. I'm going to focus on growing outdoor sativas with 100% organic methods. It's hard to grow a good sativa indoor, so I think that there is a real demand for an uppity sativa. Don't get me wrong, I love OG Kush and I'll probably have some sativa dom OG Kush. I have some sour D crosses outside right now and I just hope that they don't make me feel like a bear going into hibernation. BTW, it looks like Trump just squashed that stimulus check, so I'm back to doing whatever I have to for this greenhouse. I don't have any investors, but I do have my legal grow going that is producing WAY more than I can smoke myself. I only need $10-15k for start-up. I'm a disabled vet too, so I get 100% disability which means that I have plenty of free time and living expenses are already paid for.

I've been growing in Oklahoma since 2011 and just kept to myself, so really I've been social distancing since then. It's super hard finding the right help because people are either too lazy or just don't get motivated by weed. The people that I've had help me are looking to get rich quick and they didn't realize that you actually have to do work to grow weed. My wife is interested but she started going to school for horticulture(OSU-OKC) on my GI Bill, but she is getting into houseplants and don't have a huge interest in my pot. However, her houseplant/school friends are a lot more help than the family members that I drag over here. I can still work, but my back is pretty fucked. I get about $52k/yr in disability, but it came with a price.

I try to make everything that I use on site, it's what Korean Natural Farming and JADAM focus on. Both methods don't really get into composting in detail, but they said that they use leaf mold and left it at that. I'm saying this because it's pretty hands on making compost and vermicompost. I learned from a guy in Santa Cruz, he said that he learned from the N. Cali hippies. It's all about leaf and grass clippings with comfrey, borage, and nettle type of plants. The idea is to use deep rooting plants that pull minerals from deep in the earth. I didn't understand it at first, but using these plants can reduce your need for rock dust(Trace Minerals). I'm just rattling on now. Anyways, I grow more like a barefoot hippy than a lab coat scientist. However, I do get my soil tested and you won't get that from most organic gardeners.
