Super Soil Clarification

I am planning on using supersoil in homemade 2'x1'x.5' (1 cubic foot) planter boxes. My question is about the super soil application.

Per Sub's instructions, you fill the bottom portion of the planter with super soil and then the rest with your base. I am wanting to know, do you mix the two layers completely, not at all, or just where they meet?

Also, how should I apply the super soil to my situation? Given my setup, a 24inch x 12inch x 6 inch box, i am thinking about filling the box completely with supersoil, and then planting directly into it with a inch or 2 buffer zone. Would this work or fry my plants? Basically how should i use the super soil in a planter type setup?

*on a side note the planters will contain 2 plants each grown into a scrog. (1 square foot for each plant)
