Super soil ???

Okay I have tried the search function, yet I still cannot find the posts on HOW TO MAKE SUPER SOIL.

I have seen mention of this and just can't find the actual article on what it is, and how to make it.

Could one of the moderators/admins please sticky the article? My search for it turned up HUNDREDS of hits, mostly questions on how it works, but not the "recipe". Any help would be greatly appreciated by this newbie.
 
Those that make their own super soil all do it differently. You have to experiment. Mephisto does a have Super Soil mix that you just mixin your medium and only have to all water when the plants need it . No nute. I tried in with 3 of their strains and it does work. I grow bigger plants my way in coco. :weed:
 
Subcool's is here on riu. Rev has a tlo book with recipes. And I believe moonshineman has recipes to be found online, maybe here as well.
 
Ya kno a lot goes into growing good bud. I thing alone ain't gunna do it. They call it"dialing it in" for a reason. :weed:
 
Okay so there's no SPECIFIC recipe?
I admit that I am not as sophisticated as many on here when it comes to growing pot. I have seen some condemn things like miracle grow soil, but I would think that those would work with some tweaking like adding sand for better drainage. I am probably wrong, but I am just "thinking out loud ", as to what would work and is generally speaking, easily accessible.

That's about as easy as it gets. Pick a kit based on a bale size for peat moss, then add the prescribed amount of compost and aerators. Mix it all up and let sit 2 weeks and you have a super soil. These guys know what they are doing. It won't be a bad mix, though like all recipes someone will say it needs more x or less y.

This takes the work of research out of the first mix. You can learn more as you use it and mix your own another time.

The revs book sucks and I want my money back.

Unless he has wrote a new one. The one I got is just advertising with no real info.

He has a new one or revised edition. It was ok, good amount if knowledge. But for someone that doesn't know much about tlo, it might be a little hard to understand. I've read it twice, and am just now getting a grip on tlo. Still haven't grown this way, probably next summer.

I have grown organic all my life and still thought the first book was crappy.

I'm writing my own.

Okay, after doing some searching on the web, I found a recipe on growwesdeasy. It seems that you pretty much have to buy a whole bunch of specialized ingredients/ components. I have chickens and horses and was thinking that maybe I could use these components to make my own.

Has anyone used them to make their own?
 
Also, I've heard good about chicken manure, not sure about horse but I'm sure it works. And steer manure is go to for a lot of people.
 
Don't use either fresh. If you have piles that have stewed for 2 or more years, those are ok. It will burn garden veggies pretty quickly if fresh; I'm sure it would burn weed also.

That's all that's needed.

A good base soil and add manure. That's it. You can make it as easy or complicated as you want.

I use a base similar to promix. I have a compost pile and worm bin. I compost leaves, garden stalks and left overs, manure and other stuff.

I have a worm bin. I get fresh castings from.

I just add compost, worm castings, lime, diatamacous earth, kelp, alfalfa and that's about it.

Once they are growing I use a pinch of Espoma garden tone and small handful of worm castings once a month.

It doesn't need to be complicated.

The garden tone or down to earth all purpose have most everything on a good soil list.
 
On the horse manure, it's a "dry lot" where we keep them in the winter while we feed them hay, and pretty much nothing else. I turned it last year with a garden tiller, and plan to do so again now that they are out on pasture.

The dry LOT is @ 100' x 50' and at least 6" deep. I will try to get some pictures and post them later. It is FULL of worms!

Now to show my ignorance.... What is worm castings? I figure that it is worm manure, but just cannot imagine following the worms around with a dust pan, scooping up worm manure! LOL

Can you post videos on this forum? If so I will try to make one showing the dry LOT and turning the soil, so everyone can get a better idea of what it is like.

My kids don't buy worms for fishing, they get them free from our land. The easiest way for them to do that, is to lay some old clothes down and after about a week or so, move the clothes and simply pick them up, no digging needed.
