Supercrop experiment

Giving this a shot with 2 out of 3 dinafem critical + autos I got free with my last seed order. The 3rd one I'm leaving alone as a control to see if there's a big difference in yield. Luckily all three appear to be the same phenotype.
They are in week 4. Started with just the main stalkfirst bend ~01.jpg first bend ~02.jpg
and a few days later (today) I did some more branches.
second bend .jpg second bend ~03.jpg second bend ~02.jpg second bend ~01.jpg

So far they seem to be doing just fine.

Supercropping is generally done with scrog to get the side branches to grow upwards like cola buds. The places you have supercropped it really won't give it that canopy so there will be little to no benifit to the hst you did in my opinion.

That is just two supercropped branches, notice how the side popcorn nugs have stretched up like colas.

Good info

Sidenote: very interesting purple colouration along the knuckle

I'll take more pics as things progress! I don't think traditional supercropping would work well for an auto, which is why I'm treading lightly just to experiment.

what do you plan to gain by supercropping?

I didnt think you were supposed to top or hst an auto. They grow different than photo plants and cutting on them is said to stress and stunt them. This is just what I have read, never tried or seen it done.

So as of today all the branches I've done seem to be rebounding nicely. The only difference I can note right now is that the pistils on the plant I left alone seem to be thicker.

Ok so here are a few pics as of today. One of the main stalks put itself right back upright... didn't change much. Some branches are doing better than others. All three plants are still about the same height.. Note the pistils though.. definitely thicker on the untouched plant..

I know this is not what would be considered traditional supercropping. I wanted to take it easy

So far, not impressed with the rebound. Gave some veg nutrients (think I went a little heavy)

Will give an update in a few more days

I am very interested in your outcome mate as i trim the fuck outta my autos, have done a side by side comparison with a naturally grown untouched plant and a plant that i removed majority of fan leaves, and the one left alone grows well but not as full a bud structure in mid to lower plant sections. I believe if you want to do a few other training growing techniques they should work! Just without chopping the head off!

Chopping them down tonight.
I'm calling the experiment a bust as I had ph problems, and I had to deal with some thrips.
That being said I don't thing the small amount of supercropping hurt nor helped much. The main stalks pretty much went vertical again.
I should note the plant I left alone (on the left in the group shot) ended up shorter than the 2 I messed with. Could be genetics, either way I'm sure it's gonna be great smoke, like everything else I've gotten from dinafem!

I didn't super crop my auto (Alien X Triangle) but I did top her... did super! I was told never top an auto, guess I proved it wrong.

Most say not too as it can mess with the final yield of the plant. Most will tell you to only LST and very light defoliation. But depends on the strain on how well they will take it.

Some strains can take a topping and have enough time to veg and recover from it. Like my Skunk #3 in my grow right now is like 4 feet tall vs the 3 feet sisters. I think I would of been able to top her maybe. Not sure I won't do anything besides LST as this is my first time growing anything to do with weed lol
