Supplement UV or Far Red

I am currently running 4 x CLU 1825 3500k in a 3x3 flowering tent.

I would like to add far red and or uvb using leds.

Is one more beneficial than the other and what do you recommend?

I have been looking at rapidled far red kit but no look with uv.

GrowMau5 has a $20 LED DIY project for far red on youtube. The only thing I know of UV or UVB is those reptile T5 or T8 bulbs. There is a guy Dutchman's Medical Marijuana on youtube who has a video on those T bulbs.

I hope you get more sleep in 2017. :wink:

He also mentioned that the far red didn't do much for him in another video. @Growmau5 saying that ive held off on adding them to my build. That said it doesn't mean it wont work.

The uv chips are to expensive the best option is http://www.htgsupply.com/products/agromax-pure-uv-t5-bulb-4-foot
I have used the arcadia 12% reptile bulbs and the agomax is a lot stronger
For the red leds have a look at http://www.cutter.com.au/proddetail.php?prod=cut2857 they are the only ones with 660 and 720 for emmerson effect.
 
Hortilux has some great new t5 uvb. Nice option for uv.... ive used em last two rounds, 2 rounds ago was good but didnt see a huge change from before. But this time i did, not sure why forat round didnt change as much but this round is the finest ive ever pulled off. If your not opposed ademently to anything but led.

I like em all. I run hps, leds and uvb t5s in my flower room...
 
The problem with repti bulbs is that they are weak and are only effective up to 24 inch's from the bulb!

This doesn't work well if you do big plants....Works if you hang them around and top - down.

400w merc vapors are rather tough on plants for UV too......Work great as supplemental lighting a cpl of ft away and shorter periods.
 
I run my t5 hortilux uvb bulbs all the time the hps is on... only damage i seen was a type of light burn on one girl that almost looked like apider mite dots but they werent. Had to be those as closter to t5 a leaf was more prominet it was. It was not severe. Remember uv is damaging to the plant, thats the point.... its a stressor to have the plant push out more sun block. What does the plant use as sun block???? Good ol thc.....so you want the stress it brings but not to where it is detrimental...

Bugs are "immediately immobilized" by the THC in tric's when they walk over them. BS! Why do spiders and beetles walk all over my outdoor and are never immobilized! Why aren't these "immobilized" bugs stuck all over my outdoor plants?

Greenhouses DO NOT use borosilicate glass! Borosilicate glass is the one that blocks UV. Glass can have a coating that blocks UB also. Most house glass is this way....

Now the rest of what this Bozo has to say is fairly good!

Some of his mistakes are pretty sad. Some are fairly dumb.

This is why I don't watch any internet video on growing or MJ! Such crap being spread around......NO wonder we hear such garbage over and over again......"Well this guy said so in a video!"

I DID tell you how I really feel! You didn't like it!

I covered so much about UV years ago...thing is, it's so old that it doesn't come up in searching UV anymore.
There is a really great thread on UV started by RM3 running right now in the "Advanced growing" section.

Look that up and really learn about UV....

I've read the thread Dr. Who. Maybe a few times even but I still can't get an answer or better understanding. Some say run the UVB for an hour in 15 minute increments at peak lights on time. Others say start using it whenever lights are on at the earliest age of the plant.

I have my finger on the trigger to buy some 4 footers and UVB bulbs from HTG but I'm just not confident in the information thus far. I use 300w COBs in a 4x4 veg tent and 800w in 4x8 (the other 4x4 is 1000w HPS) flower room.
