Supplemental UV, how do you schedule yours and when do you start using it?

At the very least I see people turning it on for the last few weeks a couple hours a day, but considering it’s effect on limiting stretch I’m tempted to turn it on as early as possible.

on at flip seems like it would be a safe bet.

anyone veg with uv? How does that go if so?

It won't do much good for vegetative plants. It's supposed to be an added stressor to increase trichomb production
aside from the increase in oil production it’s limiting effect on height and stretch has me curious, I have a 4x4 “Shorty” tent so every decision I make ends up factoring in how to minimize height.
so far I’ve kind of settled on turning it on at flip and running it the full 12 hours of ”on time” but I’ve been wondering if there was any real value to turning it on sooner with regards to height and not so much oil production

thanks for the input. I haven’t really found anyone pushing that there’s value to having it on during veg but I figured it was worth asking around. If people had tried it and noticed a significantly shorter plant I’d start to lean in that direction

I don't think there's any truth to the limiting of plant height. You might decrease internodal spacing, but traditionally more light means either more growth or more stress, and outside of LST, stress isn't usually considered good in veg.

Height is going to be determined by a factor of time under light.

I’ve done a few grows with UVA+B now, can’t say I can speak to its incredible efficacy or anything, but I have used it in veg (I figured if the explanation for supplementing it the first place is true, then those high altitude plants are exposed to UVA & UVB early doors anyway, so what harm is it?) just 1 hour at long distance (3ft or so) a day to acclimatise them, incrementally ramping up to about 3 to 4 hours a day and closer to the plants in flower. My last run I didn’t bother with exposure during veg, I don’t think it does much. Then again the jury is out on the practice altogether, but I have the light now so I’m using it.

The manufacturer doesn't provide recommendations or instructions?

no doubt
a lot of bs, and “bro science” from our peers, and manufacturers awash with inflated and deceptive claims in this niche.
takes some effort to weed through it all for sure
I have a feeling certain manufacturers might just come on here posing as members in an attempt to gain knowledge of how to use their products. The problem is they're receiving all the bro-science or crap answers then spouting these answers on their site or offering them up for recommendations. For ex: I'm pretty sure HLG will tell you x2 main different ways to run it, neither are correct and one is downright harmful to your grow. The 3rd way they'd say is however you want, the uva won't harm your grow. That's about a bunch of BS.
A buddy of mine has an Illuminair 8 bar light with a faNcy named controller and two channels. White + uva/ir. Not only do the the uva + n/ir come on independently and only together but they also have no dimmer. Only the main dimmer for the light. Upon calling then for assistance they had absolutely NO advice on how, when or why to use these functions. Oh, also his remote power Supply only went 2' away from the light, WTH is the sense in that? So he had to buy the cables in order to run it outside next to the driver that came fully equipped. That by the way has a much nicer controller that coupled with the lights functinalities is the only one of its kind and comes with full instructions as well as personal assistance. To him that was all the difference between success that far exceeded his expectations or a regular grow, otherwise known as failure because the difference is night n day.
