swag grow and questions

Hello all I am brand new to this site so please take it alittle easy on me as I am looking for some advice. I started a little project acouple of months ago with some swag seeds I got from a friend of mine. I am growingin water “deep water culture, and ebb and flow” this is my 3rd go around as Iwas veging for 2 ½ weeks and my plants were getting too tall for my space andthe plants were growing up into the light. I took cuttings from the plants andstarted over. As far as cloning goes I must admit I am pretty good at that. IfI take 11 cuttings I will have 9 out of the 11 that make it so I think I havethat part down. I stared this time bytaking my clones from the previous grow and put them on 12/12. The plants grewfor about 3 weeks and have since slowed down a lot. I planted 5 plants and had3 that turned out to be male, cut those down. So now I am left with 2 plantsthat are still on the 12/12 schedule and are about 3 ½ feet tall and they arefemales. “Showing the little pistils coming off the nods” I am using a 150watthps bulb the question that I have is.

1. Will this 150 watt HPS bulb flower these 2plants?

2. I have been in flowering now for 1 month todaywhite hair is visible from both plants, but there is no sign of bud forming amI doing something wrong or how much longer before I start to see the formationof bud?

3. I trimmed quite a few fan leaves the other dayso light could get to the bottom flowers was that a mistake and if so will itprolong the flowering process?

Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks…..O and by theway this is all just a hypothetical situation. Lol lol lol

How close is the light? One problem I had using weak lights (no, weaker then yours, I assure you, they were fucking t8's) is light penetration. The weaker the light, the closer they have to be to do any good. In order to get anything out of my t8's I had to lay my plants down and have the light right on them. My next one I'll be using my 400w hps I got but never had a chance to use. The problem sounds like their not getting enough light, and with a 150w your going to want to have it as close to the plant as humanly possible without burning them.

Clipping during flowering normally isn't a good thing because the plant will burn energy trying to fix itself. with that said, some people routinely keep the bottom part of the plant that isn't getting light anyways to get rid of the dead weight. Hope that was somewhat helpful until someone better comes in :)

so you've been flowering for a month and all you see are the stygma (hairs) but no calyx swelling? Do you see even underdeveloped calyxes at the bases of these hairs?

It would sure help if we could see a photo of the buds in question, but even if you can't post pix, from your description I would also offer that it could be poor genetics (you said these were shwag seeds?). I would say that if you're going to hassle with starting a hydro system, be sure you're working with decent genetics.

Edit:
Back when I was a kid, I would grow out the random seed found in a bag of dirt weed. It was never pretty.

Seeds came from good swag...and I say that loosley.
As far as the calyx goes to tell you the truth it does notlook like there is any swelling at all. Just went and looked at them, specificallythe top part of the plant. And thereseems to be no bud forming at all from what I can see just the formation ofwhat looks like tiny new leaves. Now on the other hand there is little whitepistils coming of the sides of the plants and coming out of the sides of wherethe bud would be . Not just one or two but quite a few. I’m not sure what isgoing on the plants look healthy I don’t know if they’re getting enough lightor not or if I am still early into flowering. And yes genetics have a big roleto play, but I am working with what I have. Any info would be greatly appreciated;I am a new to all this. Have been to a couple of other sites and people areassholes.
O by the way this is all a hypothetical situation

In which case, train it to lay down and get the light over it as close as possible. Use the hand test, how far can your hand be from the light and not get burned. Thats how close you want your plant.
