Swine

What if this swine flu isn't a flu? and they're just covering it up so there won't be a panic. because its spreading and i don't think the world would make a big fuss about a flu. It might be something more serious and they aren't gonna say anything till they can get it under control. So for now its a flu , that later on is gonna fuse into some weird virus. Just my opinion.:joint:

It's a new flu strain that is only showing mild flu signs in the people that are infected. It has barely killed anyone when the seasonal flu kills tens of thousands a year.

The WHO is saying humanity is doomed and the US is nearly shutting down the country. Why? The flu is spreading but it is NOT fatal, hardly fatal. Why are they so worried?

They must be hiding something. It is clear, we are not being given all information. But remember this: If a real pandemic is coming, they would do everything in their power to keep people from panicking, and start preparing mass vaccinations. Panic would cause chaos.

Funny though, who's the terrorists now?

Terrorism is, most simply, policy intended to intimidate or cause terror.[1] It is more commonly understood as an act which (1) is intended to create fear (terror), (2) is perpetrated for an ideological goal (as opposed to a materialistic goal or a lone attack), and (3) deliberately targets (or disregards the safety of) non-combatants. Some definitions also include acts of unlawful violence or unconventional warfare, but at present, there is no internationally agreed upon definition of terrorism.[2][3]

Can't blame the dumbed down society when schools are being forced to close down when JUST 1 person is confirmed with swine flu. Something like this has never happened before, so of course people are going to worry. But when an intelectual person looks at this situation, it's all very confusing. There seems to be massive hype for a not-so-dangerous flu.

What does this mean? Are they trying to make big bucks for vaccine-producing companies? Are they attempting to get rid of a vaccine that is about to expire in 2010? Are they preparing the people for another outbreak of a second virus, or a deadly mutation of the current one? Are they just overreacting about something that has a minuscule chance of causing devastation? Are they hiding something? Are they distracting the people from something?

This whole stupid thing is all ominous and complete answers aren't given. They say, "Oh it's terrible, we all might die. But don't panic, everything is okay, it's not that bad." Some major reverse psychology going on here.

its now called h1-n1 not swine flu..calling it swine flu makes it have to do with pigs or pork when actually it has nothing to do with such things..thus renaming it n1-h1..it is actually very small and has mild symptons..only reason people are dying because..your body basically kills itself fighting off the flu..if it werent for that..it wud just be another flu that comes and goes nothing to relli worry about...but thats just my opinion

Ironically it would not surprise me if as a result of less Statist brainwashing the actual performance of the United States children on international tests goes up.

Why this wouldn't surprise me, is because I don't have any faith what so ever in the education system, because it seems to me that it is counter-active to the formation of a well-formed human mind.

The more I learn the more I believe that this continues to be the case.

For instance just last week I read a book regarding the functioning of the human mind that addressed the fact that our memories are not formed in such a fashion as a computer writes data, but we recognize patterns, or streams of input, and our mind is great and predicting future occurances based on the comparison of the present (like some one talking) with what we have experienced.

Such as that when given the words.

"Cat, Hat, Rat, Mat, Sat," we might logically expect and predict that the next word would be Chat, Fat, Bat, or any other word that matches the pattern established by the original set.

Thus, when school forces students to memorize facts by rout it is forcing them to absorb knowledge in a way that the human mind is not intended to, and breaking the natural tendency to learn by analyzing patterns.

This would also explain why those that read a lot of books appear to have higher intelligence, or higher aptitude. It's not so much that they actually have higher intelligence (which at best is only viable when discussing the potential to advance of the very young) but that they have a database of more pattents that they can filter current events through to predict where it is going, or to construct their own patterns from.

Such as the text of this entire reply. I didn't actually read anything that put what I read in this kind of format, but based on the patterns of the other things that I have read when I attempted to express the various issues that I wanted to mention it formed this pattern.

Going further, I would be willing to claim that Languages that have a good collection of helper words (adjectives, adverbs, articles) are also going to foster intelligence by generating a wider range of patterns that can be played with and manipulated by the human mind, this allows for multiple streams to be generated, examined, re-ordered and then re-examined by the mind multiple times.

Ultimately it would seem that perhaps the best thing the schools could do is increase the quantity of reading done by students, and decrease the quantity of rout memorization, because the reading would allow for more patterns to be utilized in the recall of information, and more patterns would mean that recalling information would be easier, and the pupils would also be able to use simple patterns to combine disparate pieces of information with, that they might have not connected when they were initially presented with the data, but can connect once it is possible to weave it into another pattern that they can form.

BrutalT,

I agree.

Could you reveal your source or at least throw in a few keywords so I can google for this:

Very well read, comes from not watching TV, so I have lots and lots of time to read books. (I also have other hobbies that keep my occupied).

And yeah, I can be a bit extreme in my positions at times, I'm not going to deny that. Though I'm going to use the fact that I had quit smoking to explain my attitude over the last two weeks...

it was all big tobacco's fault...
