I am DONE DONE AND DONE WITH HYDRO, I used to do soil, and to me its about the strain. So I am going to do a 4 to 6 plant soil grow, I will veg with a 2 ft T5 full spectrum ( I was gonna use it for the flower too ) and flower with a 4000K 400 watt MH bulb. I bought the set for 40 bux on ebay the light is verticle instead of horizonal, but a good reflector will be used to spread the light over the small area. What kind of soil should i use? I will use peralite and fox farm nutes when they start getting bigger.

If you're going to use some FF nutes, try some FF soil. The ocean forest seems very popular.

get you 1 bag of fox farms ocean forest and 1 bag of sunshine organic mix and mix them at a ratio of 1 to 1. it works very well. but be careful if using this mix to start seeds or clones in because the ocean foreat can be very strong and will burn them. just add more sunshine to the mix that you will be using to do those tasks. with these combined soils, your roots will grow strong and vigrous throughtout the cycle. he use grow rocks about 2" high from the bottom of a 3 gallon container. therefore 1 month veg 2 flower works works great. i was thinking of switching to hydro system but u have me worrying now. so what are the pro's and cons of it.:leaf::?:

Thanks for the info,

For me the pros aren't really there, my stealth grow has a bubbler or pump making noise instead of maybe a fan, the yield may be a tad higher in hydro, but for me I have had the levels perfect and had probs. Out of 10 grows in my life 7 soil were perfect, 3 hydro, and this one is failed.

Or,... make your own from stuff at your local Nursery & the Grocery store. Canned Soup may be wonderful, but I'd rather make my own at 50% cheaper, plus, I KNOW what is & isn't in the soil. Good Luck. For starters, see Organic section, sub-cools mix. From that base, you can then play with all kinds of good shit.

I want to start with something kind of mild, and then move on to what good nute soil. I am not that concerned though I have the full compliment of liquid nutes from FF so I can just water with that stuff but I need the right soil, and I killed too many brain cells to remember what I used to use way back when

Use FF happy frog with dolomite lime (1/2cp per gallon soil) added. I've found it tends to go acidic with added nutes, especially for strains that are long bloomers.

I use FF Light Warrior and perilite for my clones and seedlings then I use a mix of Ocean Forest, Light Warrior and Perilite at a ratio of 2:1:1 with a touch of Dolomite lime. My plants love it so I love it. Good luck and welcome back from the dark side. :bigjoint:

I have grown both ways, and both ways are about equal IMO, plus the bubbling and fans will be replaces with FAN and stuff. I am going to just use the closet instead of my POS hydro grow box, but I gotta do something for the smell. I have a cone type of air purifier that I bought from a company on ebay that sux, my 30 day old plants basically reak up the hole place. I have 4 seeds, I was thinking of gettng more but I don't need more then 2 plants a year basically ok maybe 3........
