heres the deal
i have 10 2wk old seedlings under cfls, i plan on growing this outdoors and i only am putting them under cfls for the first 2-3weeks maybe so im moving them outdoors really soon, the thing is i have them under cfls with 24/0 light, and outdoors here we get exactly 14 hours of light(and decreasing), so if i move them outside will they start to flower? im hoping ill get a good 2-4weeks of vegging outside before they flower

you need at least 12 hours of complete darkness to engage flowering. a good way to engage flowering is to leave your plants in total darkness for anywhere between 24 and 48 hours and then put them in a cycle of at least 12 hours darkness. so if your plants should flower, you should time your fluorescence so that when you put the plants out side they dont go back to having more daylight hours instead of less.

kinda confused here sorry
I do not want to flower them now.
This is supposed to be an outdoor grow, i only have them under cfls so they can get stronger before i move them outside.
Im hoping when i move them outside they will veg for another 2-4 weeks before flowering, my question is if they go from 24 hours of light per day to 14 will it induce flowering because of the dramatic change?
and are you saying i should use both cfl and outdoor light?

They are too young to flower.
What do you mean? can't you flower straight from seed?

I dont want them to flower now anyways, but i never knew the plant had to be a certain age to flower, when will they be able to flower? im hoping in like 3 weeks

Thanks. i never knew that, but can you explain what 'alternating nodes' means? sorry i am new to this

and if it has to be about 1 1/2 months old to flower why do some people start 12/12 from seed?

They may flower from seed but it still takes the time for them to flower.

Alternating nodes is when the nodes are not directly across from one another. Its hard to explain.

here we dont get 12/12 till mid way through september... and im in NORTH CAROLINA.... that means even the fastest flowering plants would die at the begging of november about 6 weeks into flowering.. thats got to be wrong

IF they need "atleast" 12 hours darkness to flower how can people even grow them in the US

i bet if you put them out they will start flowering mid aug or maybe before

Well from what I read I heard that when grown outdoors they dont need exactly 12 hours dark, just changes in the photoperiod, they could start to flower under 13/11 or 14/0 outdoors from what ive heard, can someone chime in on this?

im thinking mine will start to flower in mid august or something if i put them outdoors

I have a question about "frost", well what exactly is it? like when it gets too cold and plant dies off? how cold does it have to be?

save yourself the trouble and pick up a couple more of those cfl's and just grow it indoors, you'll be pleased with the end results.
Not only is outside risky, but it's not a controlled enviroment.

you can do 14/10 and induce flowering it will take more time but the bugs will fill out more 12/12 is not always the way to go 14/10 will take more time and give more yield and 10/14 will take less time and yield less 12/12 is just a median
