Switching to coco

I'm thinking of switching from soil to coco. I'm using promix with roots organic budda grow and bloom. My clones are currently in 1litre pots and I want to know if this is advisable. Does coco need to be amended? If so what is best. Also,is coco easier for plants to develop massive root systems? Is there any benefit to making the switch?
 
No admendments just straight coco treat it like hydro. Cal-mag cal-mag cal-mag.

Tip,
Use a smaller pot that soil I finish 3' plants in a 2 gallon pot

Benefits
Fast growth, increased yield and you are in control of the the plant receives.

Downfall
You are in control of what the plant recieves.
 
Cal mag with roots organic? I use mag-I-cal is that ok? I'm using bud candy, pineapple rush,big bud and hygrozyme with the roots organic. Budda grow. Under a. 600 hps.
 
I wanted to try different methods. Been thru the ponics. Done dirt. Figured I'd try coco next. Maybe I'll do a blend of soil and coco. Any thoughts on this?
 
I love coco, I have learned it up and down and get better growth with it than any other medium...I use a combination of tiny rockwool cubes, medium perlite, and coco in and ebb and flow watering table. Soil is for outdoors.
 
Hey, that was the first time I pulled the "organic soil is better, brah" card.

I used to hate those guys, now I are one.

True. So true.

All I gotta' say is that, as a N00B, coco did me right for not only my Ak's, but for my peppers as well. If I can do it, pretty much anyone can.
 
Okeedokie. I guess all that's left for me to do is experiment. Mad scientist time. Some get coco. Some get dirt. Some gonna get coco and dirt. I'm gonba find what works best. I grow small plants and they produce big buds. Reason being I'm not wasting the plants energy or my time growing sticks and leaves. My girls never have side branching. Just colas. Big colas. For me space is critical as well as time. Short plants seem to finish faster. And I can have 20 shorties in the space 3 bushes occupy. No branches with leaves leaning into the plants next to them. More light to the tops means larger buds. It works for me.
 
IMO, coco outperforms soil, but soil makes a better end product.
If you are more interested in quantity, I would suggest coco over soil.

Strange thing for me is flood trays gave me the best yields of anything I have tried.

I had the same gnats with coco.
Easily taken care of in coco or soil.
 
Coco grown lacks dankness and potency? How can that be. That's the end product I think you are talking about. Am I right?

I have grown in coco and had great results.
I now grow organic soil and using the same genetics the results have been better.

My veg time is slightly longer, but the yields are similar.
Organic soil just makes better buds, in my opinion.

I first grew weed in the early 1990s using hydro. I tried soil a couple times since then but mostly outside.
I am now convinced that organic soil is better, especially if you have your shit dialed in.

My two cents:

If you want to get a bit more weed a tiny but faster, go with coco or maybe even flood trays.
If you are more concerned with quality then go with organic soil.

(rumor: a friend did an organic coco run and went back to organic soil. He said the coco weed did not burn as well as the soil. /rumor)

The good people in the organic section are very friendly and eager to help and I am much less douchey over there.

I planted 3 melon gum clones a week out of the clone box about. 6 inches tall in coco and perlite. Watered them at ph. 5.7 with mag-I-cal and some trinity and roots organic budda grow. I will give them some diamond nectar and hygrozyme tomorow. I just want them to settle in and get comfortable. I removed the side shoots. And they went in the last 8 hours of the light cycle. They seemed ok so I'm gonna let them go. The melon gum developed massive roots in a very short time. I have them in soil in 1/2 litre pots. Gets them nice and root bound ready to stretch out after they get replanted.
 
Organic I think is the best way to go. Gets way better taste. I'm happy with the roots organic and I'm glad I switched. I was using dyna grow and bloom with supplements. I got ok results but once I went to the roots organic budda grow and bloom with the use of trinity my taste improved big time. I still use supplements ( bud candy , big bud, mag -I-cal. I'm doing some Pineapple Express and melon gum. These strains produce hearty plants and both love nitrogen thru flowering. I keep the N high but I also add some extra bat guano and a dose of pineapple rush. The sugaring is unbelievable at 5 weeks. All in all I'd say og is the way to grow.
 
See my thing is, I use FFOF religiously and one run I switched to the Roots Organic 707 I believe its called, and my vegetation was an unnatural bright green and not the nice deeper green that I preferred so I switched back to the FFOF.
