Switching to flower routines.

Hi all.
i will be switching over to flowering in the next week and was going to do lights out for 30 hours then the 12/12 schedule thru til harvest but yesterday saw a mates dads crop that didn't do any lights out period he just knocked back lights a half hour in increments til he got to 12/12 from 18/6 and 3 weeks into flowering look good if not a tiny bit better then the lights out for 30 hrs which I have seen done with great results. Now I'm asking myself should I follow his tips or go the 30 hr lights off route I had planned. Has anybody compared similar theories or has somebody done it and can say that one way is actually better then other for final harvest.
Cheers people :)

always run 24 hour veg them at least 3 feet tall ! or more . I like grown woman not little girls . then throw them directly into flower , never touching the light cycle, never any problems . nock on wood !

you don't need a dark period its been proven unnecessary take it or leave it
So there's absolutely no change in your harvest going dark period?,if this is so makes me wonder apart from preference why people do it and swear by it. Think I will either knock off half hour til I reach 12/12 or try LetsGetCriticals 18 to 16 for a week then 12/12 unless I hear of some other positive proven method. Thanks for the replys. :)

I'm not sure why as cannabis growers we have this urge to overcomplicate things. Just go from whatever your veg schedule to 12/12. Simple enough. I feel like a dark period, if anything, would only cause unnecessary stress.

One thing I strongly recommend is if you are running a HID mh/hps system is to keep running your mh for about a week after switching to 12/12. Seems like it helps keep the stretch down.

Also, since we are on the subject, I've been seeing people flushing their soil plants when switching to flowering. I have no idea why anyone would do this. I remember reading Cervantes saying stuff like this makes the grower feel like they "did" something.

I like to use veg and flower nutes 50/50 for the first week or two of flowering. Like to keep them green as long as possible

People do overcomplicate things  and I can say personally that's true as I've grow for years outdoors with less stress and a tiny bit less involvement in general with my plants then indoors now. I'm starting to chill now going on 2 months into my first indoor grow but still find myself stressing more then I did outdoors, funny that. That said I think I will update my mental library about this amazing plant as I'm finding out more n more everyday how resilient, hardy and if i may temperamental they get especially with alot of change. I think I'll just go my usual 18/6 then in a few days switch without any dark period to 12/12,I've got around 200w worth of 6500k cfls so that should help a tad. I will also be feeding veg nutes a&b a week or so after the switch then a light Epsom salt watering for a nice bushier thicker healthier looking plant as its always worked great outdoors for me going into flowering :eyesmoke:
