like i said..i dont support or use kits. those are for ppl who dont have patience, you get ripped off with the kits. all it takes is about $50 worth of stuff, including spores which run about $15. the only downside is now my operation is supersketch, weed+shroomies :twisted:

well, 4 years ago i bought Mazapatec, Amazonian, and Lipa Yai from TLG (thelittleguy.com). back then, they were ontop - but now i dunno. lately ive been getting my buddy to send me spores, he sends me plenty for free cus we both grow. on shroomery, there should be a nice list of vendors - sporebank.com is prolly your best bet.

buy any substrain of Cubensis; theres hundreds, i like Golden Teacher, Mazapatec, Amazonian and Lipa Yai. i do use a pressure cooker, they are about $30 and well worth it. the alternative is steaming the jars in a normal metal pot, but you need to do it for atleast 1.5-2hrs - the problem is you might still get infections, as opposed to 1 hour with a pressure cooker which results in 100% sterility. verm/brf is the standard PF Tech method, its really simple and nets you alot of good shrooms. go for it, but youll eventually want to do Casings - which yield ounces per flush as opposed to 5 or 7 grams per flush.

it can get complicated, but for the most part its a very simple procedure. let me know if you need help w/ anything, im always happy to help a fellow cultivator.

go with pf tek first, the jars/cakes are perfect for beginners. i still make jars at first, and sometimes i fruit them as is or make casings. you should just fruit the cakes as they are, the yield is good and you get alot of experience.

Thats the thing about t5s though you dont need the whole spectrum of light you just need 2 red and blue. HPS and MH!! I grow with both and personally the t5s do the job but....... The HPS and MH show way more results then a T5. When you grow with T5 you dont get all the lumen it says you do because they are comming from different spectrums. So some of the lumens are lost due to plant rejection. Mostly Green and Yellow. So that is wasted light. And plus the T5's he has arent cheap those are high yield by the looks of it and those aint cheap. For the price of 4 good T5s i can go back to high yield and buy a 400 watt conversion with air cooled light or a 600watt HPS for about the same price! and that will yield more results then t5s. And as of last year anyways you now only need a HPS bulb for both Grow and Bloom because the new HPS have 33% MH in them so it also buts out the Blue band.

I am happy with the t-5 results, but as you pointed out they are very expensive...I have paid over 400 for all those t-5's. But comparing them to a 400 watt hps (which I have now) you really only notice the difference it seems when its budding.

I am thinking about upgrading my bulb to one of those 430watts so it can have more power and a broader spectrum

yes the t5 are very pricey but perfect for early growth. no need for an hid lamp with clones and small plants. t5s are ideal for the veg, but i would deff suggest mh or hps for flowering, you will get more and the proccess will be shorter
