T5 bulb questions, and I might have fucked this up...

Not sure Quantum Bad Boy makes a 2ft, but would be a good choice

Great responses everyone! Damn, I really love that T5 article, I kind of want to replicate it to the letter, though I can only do 2' bulbs due to space constraints. Atm I'm thinking the Sunleaves Pioneer Jr. kit, but it also comes with their bulbs, which I don't really need if I use those UVLs. Anybody know of another 2', 8-bulb kit that doesn't come with bulbs? Should also be plug-and-play, I can't deal with external ballasts right now! Yeah, I didn't have red cups, didn't know it mattered. And I thought the FoxFarm already had perlite, guess not, lol.

Hydrofarm makes a decent 4 bulb 4ft T5 for about 110 bucks....

combo that with a 4x2 tent (for veg) and a 600W with a 4x4 tent (for blom), and fuck all the nefarious complex bullshit and do either hempy or coco using lucas, maxibloom or Canna and for under $500 bucks you WILL get 3/4 -1lb of weed every 90 days guaranteed ....and again, w/o all the complicated confusing bullshit....

Well I just got my 2x2 tent, it's really the only size I could use in this closet, so I'm stuck with 2' lamps. I want to get as many bulbs in there as I can, which is probably 4 or 6 tops. Been reading that T5 thread by Mr. Professeur, and trying to figure out the bulbs I would need to get that going. I'm not sure exactly what would be best. It's 410-460nm for vegging and 620-660 for growing, right? So a UVL 454nm and Super Actinics could be good for growing them, then switch to Red Sun and Pro Color? Also throw in a Fiji Purple as well in the proper spectrum. But as it turns out, I just got my Eye Hortilux Blue 400W bulb. I had ordered that and the tent already, knowing this pathetic little light wouldn't get me far. Haven't ordered the Micro-Sun yet to run it, was going to get it very soon, but now I'm torn between investing in that or going T5. T5 seems more forgiving since it takes longer, more quality and heat wouldn't be an issue, probably much easier. But then again, the Hortilux is supposed to be a beast for crazy growth, and there's always that part of me wanting mad volume. Any thoughts?

Actually I forgot I ended up with Happy Frog soil, they talked me out of FoxFarm even though that's what I heard was the way to go. Hopefully that wasn't a bad choice...

I have heard that you get bigger yields with HID lights. There are other considerations when using those lights such as energy cost and heat. So that's something to consider. Petflora seems to know a lot with regards to T5s, so maybe he could give you some advice there. I have an 8-bulb setup and it has worked out well for me. Good luck man.

So obviously the Blue is good for vegging, would it be crazy to do that to grow them fast then switch to T5 for flowering? And I def. know that what I'm currently using is underpowered for seedlings, but would the Blue be overpowered? Hang it high and get a lot more seeds seems right...

Profs thread (of which I was a long term follower/contributor) is based on misunderstood PAR propaganda regarding R/B actinic spectrums.

PETCO and others sell ZooMed 2 ft bulbs. I would use Tropic Waves for veg- to bud set, then replace half with ZooMed Florasun. Some guys use Florasuns throughout

oo complicated

Yeah, will prob do T5 after all. I would prob need a bigger darkroom to handle the Hortilux, 20 cu. ft. might be too small for 400W. I guess this will be my mother plant setup one day, but for now I'll just take these babies all the way, if that's even going to be possible. Just seeds from dirt weed anyways, not like I ordered them online.
