T5 heaven, anyone else?

Got to smile. A few days ago I got a 6 bulb four foot t5. A big white one. I could have got the 8 buib but I am going for a four plant veg with this lady.

I am shocked. All the info out there warns that there is still heat with a t5 so we can all forget our dream of replacing a hid level of heat for none. I dreamed of no hoods and no heat and no fans, or less and a nice clean quiet fluoro.

But i went out and got one anyway. It was a tough call not getting the 8 bulb but I usually overkill. I had a 600 watt mh for four plants! I got the 6 for a max 2x3 setup over a turbogarden. I use 6 inch rockwool then stack them for flower on 8 inch blocks.

Well I plugged her in a few days ago and bam! No heat! None! This shit is amazing.

I measured the lumens and my shitty meter read 30-40 k lumens! It is supposed to be 30. I figure it is.

I turned off two of the bulbs and I got an easy 20k lumens. All along the 4x2 feet of bulb I have. Even. Niceeeee.

This is cool. I turned off my fans and if it was not for the smell I would not need an exhaust at all!

I have a co2 tank too. This makes that an easy bet. Just got to get that heat up so the stomata open.

I read Victor vicious again. He flowers also with t5s. He uses 8 bulbs over sog tables tho. Loves it.

I can see why. I am not sogging but I sure as hell dream about trying out an 8 bulb over the flower table. Make co2 and everything easier.


Any one using t5s? Any one using them to flower?

For flower as it stands I will prob use a 600 watt lumatek HPS in cooltube unless I decide to give an 8 bulb t5 a try.

Funny, I just ordered the t-5 you are talking about. Like $103.00. I saw a post here 2 days ago compairing a 600 watt mh to the t-5 in a side by side veg grow. I was so impressed I ordered it one. Can't remember who posted maybe grow 4 joe?

man I love this. read victor vicious. search his name then his threads then the thread about his setup. It is like the fourth one down. It is huge. The thread. It goes in depth on the use of t5s as a great sog tool.

I would have ordered a cheaper version of my light but the best I could find was 160 on ebay and I would have to wire it myself. I found 160 already wired from hydrofarm.

there was econolight, i get there catalogues but I ditched using them when I saw one at another shop. Don tell me 103 is econolight! I almost bought an 8 bulb from them but I figured they would kill me on shipping.

I am a dumbass. But I have also fucked up a t5 before changing the ballasts. The clips were tougher than I thought and I am a lazy dude.

It is all about the lumens and the electricity use. Also how close. It seemed to add up for me that 4 plants could use a non heat producing t5 right on top. It really is no heat.

I love my t5 its a 4 ft 4 bulb one and its great. Do you have have a link to that victor thread I tried to look it up via search here but it keeps telling me invalid user specified... I would love to see a thread where someone is flowering under them.

His is priced at over 300 and he must have got Tek lights, which are the limosine of t5s. But hydrofarm has them too for 190, the 9 bulb and so do a lot of other people too.

Complete with the metal reflector from germany behind the bulbs.

tek lights do something crazy like use a seperate ballast for each bulb. IDK.

And I would love to see what a Solar Flare T5 VHO Fixture 4 Foot 12 Lamp could do < the VHO lamps are 95 watts, 7200 lumens each for a total of 86,400 lumens

I have a four 4x4 T-5 ho My first indoor grow. I have been growing outdoors for over 30 years. Used it for veg and flower it worked far better then I expected I am debating weather or not to buy and try a 400 watt cmh for flower.

Here are a few space queen's , they are under a 4 lamp T5 4 FOOT FIXTURE. The one with buds is in soil and about 20 days 12/12. All the others are in hydro and are 1 week behind the other one.
T5's are great , i wish i had an 8 lamp one to flower under ,but i got a 120 w ufo dualband LED coming next week to try out .

Here is the light on ebay. I looked for that side by side comparison posted by the member last night but I couldn't find it. Can't wait to give it a try.

T-BAY 6 LIGHT T8 FLUORESCENT FIXTURE (#310197311654)

I just bought 4 Sun System Solar Flare VHO t5's with 8 4ft bulbs for side lighting. Thats another 57600 lumens and 760 watts per unit. No more scraggly little buds on the bottom. Im already running 4 x 1000 watts as main lighting. That's 7040 total watts with 810400 lumens!!!!!! As long as the temperature works with me. This next harvest should by Gigantic!!!! Im having dreams already of fat dense buds top to bottom.........Why does it have to take 10 weeks? I'll post some pictures once I get these 4 installed (getting 2 more as soon as I can afford them!!!)
