Piccaso if you go to that website it states that the ph is a non-enforceable guideline. Meaning that the water should be 6.5-8.5 but if it is they dont give a crap and you can complain but they still wont do anything unless your going to sue the city.

Straight form the site:

"National Secondary Drinking Water Regulations (NSDWRs or secondary standards) are non-enforceable guidelines regulating contaminants that may cause cosmetic effects (such as skin or tooth discoloration) or aesthetic effects (such as taste, odor, or color) in drinking water. EPA recommends secondary standards to water systems but does not require systems to comply. However, states may choose to adopt them as enforceable standards."

If its not one problem its another. Went and got a pur filter for my faucet. Go to put it on and cant get the aerorator off the dang kitchen faucet. Got the one off the bathroom faucet but of course none of the fittings work on that. Guess its a calcium buildup on the threads of the aerorator. Thinkin about going to get some CLR to hopefully loosen the fitting.

Anyone have any other ideas of getting it off? It took a 12" monkey wrench to it and it didnt budge. Put some nice scratches and a couple dings from hitting it with the wrench.d
If it is cal build up use a glass of white vinegar. Put something in the sink to make the glass tall enough and let the faucet sit overnight in the vinegar.

I have never purchased a Brita filter.... it corrects PH? I am curious.

out. :blsmoke:

Cracker thats what Im trying to find out. Ill try the white vinegar, but Im going to get some CLR first to see if that will work. It should lower the ppm of my water which is another problem for me since my tap water ppm is around 250. Hopefully it helps with my ph too. If I can ever get this aerorator off Ill let you know.

Dude water problems are a bitch and it's a pain in the ass keeping up with your system when you start with bad water. IMO get a RO unit it will save you a ton of agravation in the end. I started with a ph of 9.8 and TDS of 560 ppm (well water ph before softner) had all kinds of probs but the main one was trying to controll the ph. No matter how much ph down I used it would climb back up out of range within 24 hours. Got a 7 stage RO and now 6.8 ph 26 ppm. Switched to GH Nutes and use a 1/2 to 1/2 mix of thier hardwater micro and the reg. Now my ph will go to 5.8 on it's own and about avery 48 to 72 hours 1/4 tsp of baking soda to raise the ph a little.

Sorry about getting long winded but it was the best $200 I spent.
