Tell me about your Bicycle

Yeah. Like it sounds. I know at least a few members here ride. I'd love to hear about your experience. What type of riding you do, what kinda bike you use, any upgrades or hacks you've done to it. Pictures are a huge plus!

@Laughing Grass @sarahJane211 are the ones that come to mind off the bat. But please! Don't be shy!

Personally, I have recently gotten into Ebikes. I already built a cruiser with a 1000w front hub motor and an 18ah battery. But now I'm looking into building a "gravel" bike. Fat tire 7 speed with the capability to ride on gravel roads, fire breaks, the beach, etc. It will also be a powered bike, but with a mid-drive motor powering the drivetrain eventually to get the maximum amount of torque out of it.

Oh, mods, please don't move this to the Fitness section. You know as well as I do that that is a death sentence for a thread here on RIU...lol

No pic of your bike?

I've been eyeing the trek townie ebike for a while. I've always wanted a beach cruiser.

My current bike is a Kona Hei Hei Trail Supreme. It came stock with sram xx1 eagle 12 speed group, guide ultimate brakes rockshox pike fork and deluxe rt3 rear shock, so there's isn't much to upgrade. I swapped out the tires for something a little wider and more aggressive and converted to tubeless. Other than that all stock.

I also have a 2005 trek 1000 wsd road bike with 650b tires. I bought it used and only ride it once or twice per year.

Sorry, created the thread last night all bleary eyed and sleepy...lol. Didn’t have pics on hand.

The donor bike is an Electra(Trek) Cruiser. Electra is Trek is Townie...same company.

It’s got a 1000 watt front wheel hub motor on it. I wanted to put a rear motor on it, but couldn’t find a single speed hub motor that fit in the oddly sized rear dropout

So I put it together like three weeks ago, have a little over 300 miles on it, but I took a couple days off and haven’t been pushing it to it’s limit, though I got 35 miles off the battery on Sunday.

But so far so good, at 332 miles on the motor!

And here’s a pic of the bike that was supposed to arrive on the 27th, but they now say it’s coming on Wednesday...

Lol it’s called a Dolomite, by Mongoose. So they either named it after an obscure mineral that no one really talks about, or it’s named after a Blacksploitation actor/producer. Dolomite is a fuckin legend, look him up!

Should have called it Dolemite! Are you planning on making it electric as well? Have you ever rode a fat bike? Like riding on those concussion balls that they used for dodge ball in elementary school.

I haven’t ridden one, but I like the idea of being able to ride on sand.

I will eventually power it with a mid drive motor. One that mounts to the bottom bracket and replaces your front chainring. It runs through the bikes drivetrain giving it maximum torque on the rear tire. So basically, I should be able to climb any ascent that a fit mountain biker could climb, except for it without breaking a sweat...lol

I’ve mountain biked since I was 12, but took a decade off. Now that I have my daughter, I’m trying to get back in shape so I can start riding this beast in the closet...

Titanium Maverick trail bike, I just have to convert the old 3x9 drivetrain to something more modern like a 1x12 sram eagle. Also needs an overhaul. Bleed the hydraulic brakes and make it safe again

I just bought an Eahora XC 100. It won't arrive for weeķs yet, but it supposedly goes 80 miles on a charge at minimum assist.
Wow! 80 miles is ridiculous! Awesome! I THINK I can get close to 50 miles out of mine on minimum assist. But that’s gotta be mostly flat ground...too many ascents and it’ll drop to 40 on minimum assist.

Alternatively, when I’m just pushing max throttle on the bike, I get 20-25 on this battery.

Although I’m going to be getting a second battery soon with 75% more capacity. Hoping to get 100 miles out of both batteries combined, NOT minimum assist, but just regular putting around.

I should be able to swap the batteries between bikes when I get the other one too, though that one will also have it’s own battery as well. So the “2nd” battery for each bike will be the same, swapped between them.

Those batteries ain’t cheap! Actually going to start building them with a buddy. He’s buying a spot welder For the project.

I ride a girls Trek that I bought for my daughter who wrecked it and said no more but thanks for spending 1200$ now put it in the basement with all the other stuff I wanted but don’t use.
Also ride a cheap bmx bike that I bought for a nephew who rode it once for 2 minutes and went back inside to play video games.
And I have a really cool old 10 speed that I got at a yard sail for 5$ , powder blue, thin wheels and ram horn handle bars . It’s my favorite as long as I don’t need to stop fast.
Unfortunately I have copd and I don’t trust getting to far from home. But the feeling of freedom is unbeatable.

They're also really stable on snow. There's a fat bike snow racing series in Poland. What is the travel on that beast? 200mm? I've never seen a double crown on a trail bike.
