We don't get thunderstorms here either - I've heard thunder only 3 times since 1987 and it sucks !I grew up in the Mid-Lannic states ... and the two things I miss out here in 'Fornia are fireflies and thunderstorms.
One of the coolest thunderstorms I ever saw was on the Delaware Coast. It was a tent-flattener (was camping. Learned to re-erect sodden canvas at twilight.) Once duty was done, I hiked to the beach under a rising full moon while it was still drizzling. The heavy downpour ironed the water oily-flat. Only time I ever saw the Atlantic dead calm ... the surf maxed at two inches and nary a ripple. Spoooky. The beach was SILENT. And the driving rain sculpted the sand into a really cool texture. it was like that honeycomb effect (I think it's incipient frost heaving) you get in mud that thaws and refreezes. We don't get thunderstorms here either - I've heard thunder only 3 times since 1987 and it sucks !
Nothing like the cleansing and smell after a good old Everglades Express !
