The Steps;
1. place your finger around the main stem of the plant
2. rub it up and down to get the scent on your hand
3. smell it!
I don't care what opinion you kids have...

What do you mean? you need people to tell you what to think?

get out to your veg room and test it out!

As i stated before, this is not for amateurs. You need to be aware of what your looking for. As the above states, those are the results you get when you don't know what your doing.

How can you tell if you have a male or female while in veg?
You first need to have at least two plants of the same strain. Both plants need to be about 2 feet tall for the scent to be strong enough. Some strains work even earlier.

The Steps;
1. place your finger around the main stem of the plant
2. rub it up and down to get the scent on your hand
3. smell it!

what's the difference? a male plant will have a more aggressive smell, while a female has a much gentler, prettier smell if you will. You need the two plants in order to have something to compare against. Once your familiar with the strains smell. you can judge a male or female before it even shows any noticable signs of sex.

Allow me to be more clear about this post, first I should have titled it "judging sex by smell"
I did not start this post to argue with damn kids, it is to inform all the intelligent growers out there that are interested. It does work and the proof is in ALL plants not just weed.

I would agree with you completely on this but just recently I had 4 plants, same strain, and had one that was very smelly at about 6-7 weeks veg. So, as I always thought, assumed this one stinky plant was a male. It's always worked out that way. Stinky veg = male plant. When pre flowers started it showed somewhat like a male but in a couple of weeks it went female!! So this one didn't work out but I've always had strong smelling veg plants turn out to be male except for this time this year. 2020 is fucked anyway.

I search everywhere for this thread. I had been using this method for 5 grows, over 120 plants and NEVER grew a male! I MAY have tossed some females, but the fact that there was NEVER a single male was proof enough for me. I'm back to it and needed a refresher!

Also, we will soon find out if the smell test has been 100% for me because I believe this will be a female. You can see the two days growth at day 10 and then day 12, although the pictures may be set backwards I'm not sure. You'll be able to tell the difference. Today is day 12 since the seed cracked. I'm growing her under a 200 watt fluorescent and I'm going to start a thread on this. The only reason I'm posting this here is because I'm using the smell test to check sex.
