Hi guys,
am new to the forum and to indoor gardening. Am at present designing my grow room to include the following -

Air intake fan
Extraction fan
Lights (MH for veggie, HPS for flowering)
Ozone generator for the smell

But what I am looking for is a way to effectivly regulate the temperature and humidity of the room - any suggestions?

Marty

If you set up your room and take the air temp at plant level then you can regulate that by using your fans for the right amount of time "trial and error" as regards humidity from my experience its usually 25 degrees celsius plus so its usually pretty dry at that temperature unless your growing a rain forest??

good luck and i hope you have a great harvest!!!

for reducing temp, a fan will lower the temp a few degrees. If you want more reduction i temp, buy a cool mist humidifier (you can get for 25$-40$, wal-mart, zellers..) some of the humidifiers you can set to stay at a certain humidity. If you want to raise the temp while adding some humidity, then get an evaporative humidifier. These add warm mist into your grow room.

Cheers for the advice mate.
Quick one on lighting - I have read the other threads, but 1 on 1 advise is always good - My grow room, I plan to be 4.5ftx2ftx6ft - will 600w bulbs be the best for this size or will I need the 1000w bad boys?

I would always recommend using the 1000W if you have the money.. it also depends on how many plants your deciding to grow. Usually under 8 plants or under will go good with a 600W if you want to save power and money, but if you want a full out harvst, it's better to go with the 1000W. a 1000W will be good for up to 15- 20 plants depending on the setup. Usually the rule of thumb is: 2500 lumens per Sq foot is minimal, 5000 is average, and 7500 or more is optimal. A 1000W HPs will put out 75,000 lumens, you can have an awsome grow with 10 SQ feet of space(LengthXWidth). a 600 Watt hps puts out about 55,000 Lumens.

Remember, HPS andMetal halides get really hot, keep them a few feet away from the plants to avoid burning.

My 600W HPS puts out 97,000lumens. A 1000W HPS can put out as much as 199,000 lumens (Hortilux).

Get the 1000. More leeway.
