I upgraded to 400w and so far i've spent around $200.00 in an effort to cool my flowering closet.
Basically a new inline fan, ducting, and clamps. It's not perfect yet but has cooled both
the closet itself, and the temps under the canopy. I'm still as hot as 91F without the a/c
keeping the house temps at 70F. 86-88f with a/c set to 70F ambient house temp.
I'm looking into either a cooltube, or somehow using the tempered glass from my old 250w hood
for further heat reduction.
Right now exhaust ducting sits close to the bulb and sucks hot air through the fan (170cfm)
and extracts out the back side of the closet. Roughly 16 feet of ducting. I plan on adding a carbon filter
next week on the extraction side before the air exits the closet. I leave the door open during lights on (5:20pm-5:20am)
for passive air intake. I may cut a 4" hole on the left wall for passive intake nearer the plants/lights. I also have 2-4"
fans above the canopy, below the light circulating air above the plants, as well as a larger honeywell vortex type fan
blowing air from the open door toward the plant tops.
I was given the 400w last time i picked up cuttings so it wasn't a planned thing for my flowering space. I never needed any more
than the 3 fans and the door open with my 250w to keep things at 80F under the canopy. Still warm but net weights
were more than i could use between harvests. With a few more adjustments i'd like to get to around 82-85F. I
think those temps i can work with.
Good luck
