Temps in grow room.

I have built my grow room in an un insulated shop, so I have dirt floors that I just put black plastic visqueen down on. Its insulated and sheet rocked, but I have temps at the ground level in the 60's and up from that its 78-80, should I try and insulate the floor a little? I have two small heaters in their with my 1 1k watt light and no fan or exhaust yet, are the temps going to be okay to start my clones in? any help is appreciated.

What state do you live in?

Even in a home, you should have the pots sitting up off the floor so the medium doesnt get too cold.

I assume these temps are with the lights off? The type and amount of lighting is going to have a significant effect on temps throughout the room. Light distance is also an issue. I had a situation where the area right under the lights was a nice 78*F, but the room was in the lower to mis 60's and I wasnt seeing good growth. I had to raise the lights a bit which I hate to do, which allowed me to turn up the temps in the other parts of the room.

I think i'd definitely try to throw down a mat. Any colder and you risk slowing nutrient uptake. Another 5 degrees can only help. It also depends on your location. I dont know about you but its been getting cold here at night

Water, oh you're hydro? I can't speak with any authority on that. In soil, it does make a difference. For one thing, cool soil temps will alter the ph.

Not even close? Keep going man, some of these people are trying to grow in small cabinets, some are even good at it, but you have a whole room to work with. So much potential here.

Insulation is cheap and easy to install.

As Prod was saying, theres so much you can do with that room! Just keep tuggin along, the more you put into it, the happier environment your children will have to play in.

I can only imagine the faces of all those with stealth grow cabinets in their room, while they are renting a room from someone who has zero passion for the plant. Wishing they had space like that

Have fun with it brotha

You said dirt floor! How moist is the floor?

My shop has a dirt floor and if any part of it gets covered for a period of time, mold grows between the soil and what ever is covering it. My floor is dry until it is covered then it wicks moisture to the surface.

Just a heads up in case you did not think about it. :peace:

So leave it a dirt floor? I didn't think about my hood being so big and I didn't give the 8' ceiling a peak, so the height to the bottom of my light is only 6'5" ! Would it help if I wall mounted a T5 I have ? It's a 4 bulb
