Tent is getting too hot, 32C.

Also do you leave grow room door shut so when ac is on cold air stays in room. Especially with lights out. The house is hotter than a sealed room. My house is 76°f right now set at 75°F I'll have to open a window in grow room to keep temps above 67f that room with the grey sheet has its window open. Sitting at 70°F.
I live in a 2 story so all the heat floods upstairs the red sheet is upstairs in my veg/ dry room veg tent stays low to mid 70s dry tent 62-68 f when it's hot outside
I do live in a valley though.

I am having an issue with heat since I turned my LED light to 100%. During the day it heats up to 32-33C and 27-29C at night. My set up is below.

- 2x2x4 tent
- 4" inline exhaust with carbon filter. The fan is inside at the top the tent with tubing running to the filter outside of the tent.
- 4" inline intake fan in the bottom left of the tent to bring cool air in.
- 1 clip on fan placed at about mid height pointing at the wall/slightly down to create a gentle breeze on the plant.
- 150W LED grow light running at 100%.
- Humidifier on low to get 40-50% RH.

I live in hot area with highs of 38C(100F) during the day but keep the house cooled down to about 23C(73F).
Sounds like your taking the heat out the tent and pumping it back into the room which is just going back into the tent.
The air just gets warmer and warmer.

You should have your filter in tent, fan pulling through it and pushing air out the window or house in some way. Then your tents pulling in air from your house which you say is 23 degrees C.
23 degrees C as ambient air temp should be a good starting point!

Do you have an exhaust fan in your tent? If your house is 73f your tent should be around the same if you’ve got constant air exchange. I run 960w in an 8x4 tent in an 82f room tent doesn’t get hotter than 84f and that’s right under the lights at canopy level.

onlything I could think if you do have exhaust going is do you have your tent somewhere with poor ventilation like a closet? In which case get it in a room with air lol.

I had a problem keeping my room & tent cool once the temperature outside hit 98F. It suuucked. My solution was to vent the tent outside & plug a portable AC unit in right next to the tent. This required a dual window vent plate, one 5" for AC & one 6" for my inline.

The cool air comes out of the portable AC, drops & gets sucked up right into the tent. Just don't run the AC & light on the same circuit or you'll be flippin a breaker...so run a sufficiently gauged extension from another room to one device.

Decent portable AC will cost ya $350'ish
I depend on those units. Dealing with one freezing up right now but I have backup.

To reduce costs I changed my light schedule. I went to the Sun and Moon website > determined the hottest part of the day. I made that part of the day midpoint night for the plants so during the coolest part of night lights on and during the hottest part of the day lights off.

If you choose to check it out, put in your zip code on the left under Sun. On the next page click the "Sun & Moon Today" tab > scroll down and look for 'meridian'.

there’s an easier way. Run your lights at night for flower, it’s cooler when the suns not out. For veg run your lights from roughly 6pm(1800) to 12pm(1200) adjust for location/climate.

and ffs stop trying to grow indoors without climate control. You growing in your garage, you’re going to need an air conditioner when it’s hot and a heater when it’s cold. There are no shortcuts. If controlling an indoor environment isn’t feasible the solution is not to do it, I’d hate to waste all that money on equipment and electric just to grow some fucking mids when there’s a whole ass sun outside

So! I moved the tent to an unused room that typically runs cooler than the previous one the tent was in. I blacked out the window in there and sealed the door so the cool air from the AC stays in there. So far the room is running 4C cooler than the room it was in. I also moved the exhaust fan to be outside of the tent to reduce the amount of heat buildup from equipment, as well as getting another internal fan to blow directly on the top of the LEDs to move that stagnant hot air off the light.

Lets see where this goes!

Right To keep the schedule I have my lights turning off at 11AM and back on at 7:00PM.

And you're right about the free Sun. Not all of us have private backyards. If I had a private backyard I'd grow 10 footers too.

If you go this route, you really need to make sure the wire gauge of the extension is large enough for the load. You should also make sure you’re plugging into a GFI plug.

if you talk to an electrician they would frown upon this set up. This is a electrical hazard and im sure the portable A/C unit says on it that you need to plug directly into the wall, no extension cords.

I don’t give a shit about electrical codes personally, but I try to keep everything as safe as possible which usually entails following code.

at Least run that extension cord along the walls under tape to prevent anyone tripping on it. Get a extension cord that is made for heavy loads. Got to an box store and talk to an employee and say you need to plug your refrigerator into it.

Yea i got the AC plugged directly into wall. I'm using an extension from next room (taped down) > to a surge protector in grow room only for the 480w LED & inline fan.

Bro im about to blow your mind. U dont need none of that extra crap u got in the tent. No humidifier no a.c...Temp and humidity does NOT matter except for drying and curing.
I did all of that stuff u did b4. Had Temps in the mid 90"s so added co2', a.c., etc.
I know the old heads that been doing this for years will disagree. But they finally catching on to led's. Anyway...
Its all about the plant temp not room temp. These are weeds they can grow in the dessert or any condition.
1st off the only time u should have light on 100% is week 7-8 then dial it back down for final week or 2 like u do with nutes and water during its last days. And that 100% is only if your tent has full canopy. Light strength needed will be dictated by what your plant tells u it wants (nothing more nothing less). It can only use what it needs and any more actually gives u less from it, not more as u might think.. cuz its working harder to compensate by drinking more and photosynthesis. Learn to read your leaves and u don't need to buy any instrument to measure the heat on em.
2nd off 2x2 tent only needs 2 small fans. Less is more. I would bet it all the issue is improper air flow. More fans will just make it hotter trust me ive done it. The air bumping into each other causes heat pockets. One fan above canopy in one direction and one below in the other direction. If u dont have a true scrog or canopy then point both fans in the same direction so they won't hit each others flow. And leave your vent flaps open. Done. Guarantee u drop a few degrees.
For help understanding temp and air flow and light strength check out "welcome to the grow tent" on youtube.
I even use to put a fan pointed at the lights meanwell driver to cool it down but I learned it didn't matter if your air flow is gd.
Ps when u do turn your light to full strength keep them 30" for tops. Led's fool people by giving slight light burn that u won't see til late bloom. Thats why most folks leaves look horrible by harvest time.
Just my thoughts sorry for any rambling.:bigjoint::eyesmoke::blsmoke:Im half baked.
