TERM questions

So i had a few questions on terms all the stuff i've read these terms come up with no explanations i'm just going to ask... if someone answers sweet thanks if they don't i'm sure one day i'll understand what it is.

only those two terms are the ones that have been driving me crazy are these just parts of the grow process or are they actually something that people do different to get these.

clones are cutting which put to root to get new plants out of them, mothers are plants which are kept from flower/ in vegging to take constantly clones from them.
