Testing PH question

If I take a soil sample at the surface of my outdoor grow, will it test the same as several inches down in the root zone? Just curious if since the roots are using up the nutrients and there are no roots on the surface, will I get an accurate ph test or do I need to take a core sample and test deeper down?

Are you seeing symptoms up top that warrant taking ph readings? Kinda just curious why. Soil is pretty forgiving unless it's seriously to one side or the other on the pH scale to begin with.

better to take the sample away from plant, like out of the soak zone,,if your doing a ph test for soil,,with your feed you are putting it in the soil ,,so i would get a sample about a foot from plant and about 3 in deep,,then do your soil test,,want be any thing but the native soil,,that will tell you were you really are,,as you feed the nutes go down to root zone,,im asuming you are having anerobic issues or growing in a heavy clay base or you wouldnt be doing the test
