You do realize that once the max signatures are in, the President has to publicly respond to it......and then when he does, the people who don't know how/don't want to use a computer will learn how to sign it. There's no ignoring it then.
Yes I realize that, and I already told you what his response is going to be. It's going to be a big "shut the fuck up texas". Yes it will be ignored. No one is seceding. I will wager any amount of money you would like that no state will secede at any point in the near to semi-distant future.

Let's pretend that 85% of Texas' adult population signed this petition. What would happen next? cn

Let's pretend 100% of texas, and 50% of all the other states all decided to secede from the united states. I wonder what would happen. Oh wait, that already did happen, go read a god damn history book.

The only way this will be ignored is if they take down the Petition page on the White House website, because the signature count will only get bigger and garner more attention. So if they take down the page on the site, you're right. If not, this isn't getting ignored.

Amazing how optimistic some people can be about the idea that the government follows it's own rules--when it seems serving to that person's chosen agenda to hold such optimism.

The federal government doesn't care what we think, and continues to make it's decisions based on primacy, monetary motivations, and the long-running joy of a solid power trip.

People make a big stink out of this or that, and get ignored, constantly. This is business as usual for the fed. It is a government behavior that is technically hard to declare legal or illegal due to the way the government is made up of individuals who hide behind deniability on a personal level.

I am pretty amazed Shags has a supporter in this thread, honestly.

I love the part where he uses the idea that houses cost 5x more in Cali than in Texas as evidence that the Texas economy is thriving.

Pass the popcorn.

You are delusional. They won't take the petition down or hide it, but they certainly don't have to let texas secede. I'm not sure what you think is going to happen, but texas isn't going anywhere, I don't care how many signatures they get.

Actually I bet the rest of the works is proud of our passion, in political affairs most Americans are docile. The rest of the world has real passion, like Texans do.
