TGA Subcool Vortex / TH Seeds A-train gro

Yeah!! Get some!! Lookin yummy:) Since there are a collective of good growers in this thread. Anyone do any "Lollipoping" in here? Im sick of POPCORN buds. Results? Worth it? Sorry to ask in ur grow. But ur popcorn made me think about it..

thanks tom. good to know. i always use the 30x magnifier method and look for about half amber colored trichomes. it's not always easy to tell. by that time i usually see lots of brown/red "hairs." i don't have a ton of experience so i'm always sort of guessing.
 
so if i'm looking at 55 days finish time on both a-train and vortex i'm 2 weeks away. i got the magnifier out tonight and i see a just a very few pistils starting to turn brown on all three plants. maybe 2 weeks sounds right?

the big a-train's fan leaves are noticeably fading a little bit. it sucks up about twice as much water as the other two so i gave her one last dose of big bloom tonight.

what is fox tailing on buds? is it when the pistils sort of corkscrew? the vortex and a-train look different.

so i went web surfing at seeds banks to find finish times on the vortex and i got:
58-65 days
45-55 days
63-70 days!

that's quite a range. i guess my question is anybody got a good guess and why would finish times vary so much? depends on the pheno? lights? veg time?

good question! actually i don't mind popcorn buds as long as they get me stoned! :leaf: i notice in high times mag they have lots of pics of small thumb sized buds.
 
63-70 sounds bout right. Thats about what my Jilly went. Looks like most of Subcools gear runs about the same..

so lets talk about the a-train. the TH seeds website says 55 days so assume that is correct. 2 weeks left. i'm in soil and the big leaves are fading. the fade happened fast, within the past week. stems look nice and green. buds are fattening up and a few hairs are turning brown. just gave her a shot of big bloom. any suggestions what to do next?

assuming i have 2 weeks left i should probably do a good flush in a few days. other than that maybe i should just leave her alone?

thanks fditty......since it looks like 2 weeks left on the a-train i agree.

sure wish i had a camera that could do super macro stuff. the vortex is covered with what looks like big stalks (trichomes) and the a-train is covered with smaller stalks. which is exactly the opposite of what i expected. the smell is still mild on both but really nice. niether is all white frosty looking until you get the magnifier out. but anyway they both look fucking great!
 
Does the A-Train look like it's advertised photo yet? I haven't seen a press shot of Vortex.

I was just out in my tent and I noticed that ATrain is forming this big V line of buds coming striaght down the sides. Looks awsome, I can't wait to watch the buds mature so I can make that my computer desktop.
 
if you look closely there's one weird leaf sticking up from the center of the fan leaf. i see several of them like this. strange!

kinda hard to see but picture 2 is better.

wish i knew how to, or had the gear to, get some close ups of the trichomes but this is as good as i can do.

She (A-Train) doesn't look anything like the press shot yet. You sure she's only got 2 weeks left?

Hey Dance hows it going. I have a rather shitty camera in my opinion, but a couple of things that I have noticed that helps. Self timer helps minimize distortion on close ups and throwing some led lighting on the subject helps bring out the trics. I had a wicked nice camera a couple of years ago, but a freak accident shattered it ( foul ball )

Where did you get the various flower times for the Vortex. The 45-55 days would be the one in subcool's description.

you're correct. it doesn't look like the picture at all. i'll have to get a pic from the same angle and different lighting and see what i come up with.

the th seeds web site says a-train flowers in 55-60 days and i have less than 2 weeks to 55 left. i'll probably go to 60 depending on how the trichomes look.

strange isn't it? i got them from the attitude. the hairs are turning slowly so 2 weeks (55 days) might be about right. i'll keep you posted.
 
I think that the Vortex that Supcool highlights on his video is the same pheno that you and I have. My pheno Red. You get a good idea of what it looks like at day 55 which is when he took that one down. They do some amazing shit in the last week or two. My Ice buds in the final two weeks go from mostly pistols to an explosion of giant calyxs

Those are all different estimates of the same seed from different sources? Hmm odd. If so, attitude is the only one that claims it will be done anywhere near 55 days. The mean number looks like it's around 62 days imo.

yea, vortex is a hybrid, never grown it before but closer to 60 days sounds right for a hybrid maybe even 65

the two common days listen are 58-65 its there twice, but ya just check your trichs and look for pistils to darken
