THC, CBD, CBN, and Trichomes

Hi everyone!

What's the story with the 'harvest window' and cannabinod composition? There seems to be shortage of general consensus and solid info on the net. My main point of interest is Cannabidiol (CBD)

Clear trychs are composed of precursor cannabinods. THC is not fully developed yet.

Milky/cloudy
trichs have the highest amount THC of the plant's growth stage (good for getting high :))

Amber trychs
: here is where the problem lies. I had read in forums before that THC here degrades to Cannabidiol (CBD). After a fresh research, I have discovered that it is not true and a misconception. At this stage, THC degrades to Cannabinol (CBN), not CBD!!

The reason I was looking into this again was that I and my friend had a heated discussion about harvest window. I advocated that for recreational use is best to aim for as much Cloudy as possible, in that process you will have maybe 5% clear and 15% amber. And for medicine I suggested much more Amber, in a notion that it creates more CBDs.

My friend, on the other hand, was strongly advocating to have 50/50 cloudy and amber for recreational also. That THC needs to be accompanied by CBDs to decrease paranoia and anxiety.

But after my researched I think that we have both been wrong in a way. It appears that CBD levels in a plant are not affected by the colour of Trichomes; instead, it's entirely dependent on genetics. Perhaps, CBDs could degrade like THC when harvested too late.

So what is the real story with this actually? Could someone clear this up please? Thanks!

How to get high levels of CBD in your buds

  • Like THC, CBD content in buds is primarily determined by strain (genetics)

  • CBD is often confused with CBN, which can be affected by harvest methods

  • There is not much you can do to increase levels of CBD besides choosing a high CBD strain

  • CBD is often naturally found in higher amounts in low-THC varieties such as Hemp and Ruderalis (auto-flowering)

  • In recent years, some high-THC strains have been particularly bred for higher levels of CBD

Hi,

You probably misunderstood my question. My questiob was (a) does THC break down to CBN or CBD, (b) do amber trychs indicate CBN content or CBD content. The.
