making the plant think that a month has gone by when it's really been 3 weeks is the most intriguing part of this whole thing. it's practically time travel. assuming it works out, of course

...I agree the yield may be smaller, but i'm thinking just a little smaller-compared to the days saved at the end...which is more important??Im still standing by my theory that yield will suffer. The plant will mature quicker, but you're forcing it to do so quicker than normal so bud production will slow. Im high... these are all ideas
If the quality is not affected and the yield is just a weee bit smaller...then on a long flower sativa we could be saving over 2 weeks....and if yield is ruined we trash the idea, I smoke less bud for a few months,and we all live happily ever after...lol...I'm high

I feel you bro if you lived up here id say come blaze some jack herer sometime but hopefully all works out for you take it easy brothanks man.. sucks. I'm out of cash and out of weed for a full 2 weeks. My previous grow failed miserably so nothing from there, and I had some payments to make so out of cash as well.Getting depressed and my head hurts like a bitch most of the day... sigh

...it's been on my mind for a while now...someone has to of tried this...it's not like a horticultural breakthrough in science...if it is I want my cut damnit!!..lol...I figured someone would of already shot my idea down by now...I'm happy with the responses and it's made me get this thing going...i'm just waiting to hear from the guy has already wasted his time ..so I don't have to waste mine...lol

also to add more options and confusion.... I think it was either on this site or in the grow bible that said plants can actually flower in 14 hours of sun since they are halfway or more done when they get into actual 12/12 naturally. If you take this into account while shortening the day you may be able to recoup the lost light of the 10/10 day. That way you could get the best of both worlds and not lose you yield, also if it is a failure youll have plants that are flowering larger than your average 12/12 flower and in the end have more bud than less

...it's probable the hours lost during the dark period that will have the most impact...I think the 10 hrs of light is enough for a complete day cycle...idk...I keep brain storming through this...9/11...11/9...but 10/10 seems the best so far

I wonder if running both lights, MH and HPS, will help make up for any of the light they will be losing....hmmmmmmmm...or at least that new HPS with the higher blue.....
...I guess any and everything to enhance the spectrum is going to be needed for this...
well, I need some stuff for the up-coming years' grow anyways...so anything I buy is for my regular grow too...just so you'all don't think I dropping $$$ on some crazy closet experiment...I like to roll high, but on todays budget I'm more of a ghetto roller than a high roller...lol.....so should I go with a 1000w HPS + a 400w MH...or just the HPS
...I'm not even sure I can keep the room cool if I add the 400w...it's just a reflector hood, not vented like the 1000's are...but I thought maybe the extra spectrum may help...idk...maybe thats overkill??

...I have both...but I can't keep it cool enough with all that going so I'm going to breakdown and buy the new HPS with alot of the MH blue in it...it's s $220 bulb,1000w, at my growshop...they will usually match any on-line price, i'll have to do some shopping....it's not the HPS High preformance Hortilux EYE Super Spectrum bulb I already have...it is an alltogether different bulb...made by Hortilux in HPS but it has over 50% blue compared to the 30% we have now

12/12 and 10/10 are a little different...12/12 from veg does not cut down on flower time at a rate of 6 to 1...all it does is skip the time a plant is vegging...the plant will still need to flower for the required amount of 12/12 days....10/10 makes an old 24 hour day into the new and improved super nitro 20 hour day...finishing a whole entire 9 weeks in just 7 1/2 weeks time...and if you buy now, I'll send you one free ( plus shipping and handling)...but you must order fast...only while supplies last...
