Most if not all of those states were RED states, you know, conservative states. Gives some meaning to the premis that conservatives are more against legalizing than liberals, don't y'all think? My state. Nevada, used to be about the worst state for criminality of pot, but in the last 25 years, (Due to the huge influx of Californians no doubt) it is one of the more liberal, even has a medical MJ law, although with a population of around 3 million, only around 3,000 people have applied. I guess either paranoia or the reluctance to hassle it has kept the numbers low. It is a bit of a hassle in Nevada, check the NORML site to see why.

I left Florida out because their mandatory minimum sentences are for offenses over 25 pounds and Florida really puts emphasis on judicial power in cases under 25 pounds which means the state can give you whatever the judge deems appropriate. It was up between Florida and another state at the end. So Florida could easily be put on the list.
Its the Christian Conservatives.

Get caught with weed in denver, fine- 1$. Dude I live in Oklahoma fuck that shit... Cops are fuckn bitches here too. Back in AZ. If you were high the cops would just laugh and tell you to walk home or something, here if your in the middle of no where all by urself smoking a blunt and a cop knows, they will search for your ass, come on your private property and shit and throw ur ass in jail, They do whatever they can to be douches.

Nice to see you're from NV and know about how it "changed". It seems after the Olympic snow boarders were busted just before they hit the CA state line, down by Topaz Lake, the state started to realize how stupid they looked. You probably have a better handle on it though as I moved here in 92' and was scared of the laws even coming from the midwest! Once my stash was gone it was hard to find weed here except my kids were in high school and scored it for my birthdays, Xmas, etc. Now I'm medical so screw the high schoolers and 4th street dealers! Tough MMJ laws here but when I look NJ's new MMJ law I feel pretty lucky. At least we can grow.
What about Utah? Thought those Mormons would really be rough on pot?

You are absolutely wrong. It is the politics of far right conservatism that have put these draconian laws into effect and keep them there. It is also a fact that liberals are more apt to discount pot possession as nothing more than a nuisance, not worthy of serious jail time. Pay attention. It is the "Blue" states that are more apt to have some form of legalization of pot. Nv. turned Blue in the last election. Remains to be seen whether it will remain blue. The essence of the word liberal means that liberals are more relaxed about laws and penalities, so there.

I think the Fed should fuck off and keep its nose out of states business, You know the 10th amendment and all.
I don't think it's about stealing freedom per say more like stealing MY money and giving it to YOUR cause.

No matter what MJ will eventually be legal. everywhere. The number of states that pass mj law is growing more and more. Eventually us Floridians will not have to fear about being on some list. Power of the people will prevail, all we have to do is get more and more people to smoke.

I didn't say that being conservative state has nothing to do with harsh laws. I mean that my political ideology had nothing to do with me picking the states I listed.

Thats crazy that you can get a small fine on one side of the street step over the state line n that same amount is a prison sentance! thats mad! here in the u.k they dont really put many people in prison for weed unless you got dont quote me say 500+ plants ive read lots of cases of people being caught with 100+ plants and not going to jail.

when people start standing up for their rights is when things will change. join norml, got to the capital and be heard, sounds corny but thats what it takes. when the powers that be see that we wont just sit on our asses and let some archaic dinosaurs run our lives., when people start getting loud is the only time these politicians will listen!

You're being altruistic. Your dreams of a Utopian anarchy are never going to happen. What's right and what's reality are two different things. Most of the hatred for the fed is due to the civil war and civil rights movement when the fed stepped in and now is transferred to anything that the fed does.
