i have 3 1000 watters and a 400 in my 8 x 12' room over 16 plants, 20 next month... inline cool tubes for the 1000's, when it gets hot out i'll blow one of my 440cfm fans thru 2 of the lights,

only 1 room, veg n flower, but they're one hell of a light system!! digital ballasts, either 120 or 240 V (i have them all on a 240V timer), and they run MH AND HPS bulbs automatically!! with a single light kit came the inline cooltube hood, digi ballast, hangers, timer (good for my other stuff now), and a MH and HPS bulb all for 500 CAD!! not bad... so i picked up 3... not sure what brand they are. 1 more in the future to replace the 400 and finish the job...

thats only cause of imitation bigbud..europe introduced the phoney type and it got all mixed up...northwestern orgin us bigbud is bomb as fuck and skunky heres wut my reading have told me

"often imitated but never duplicated, the real bigbud is 1 of my personal favs..orginally form the pacific northwest, the buds of this strain are so huge they must be tied up or they'll fall over..both amsterdam and candada have a strain called bigbud, but they are weak and generic in comparison to the real bigbud."

"as far as pedigree details go, I believe big bud is a skunk selection and inbred for large size and skunkiness"

Big bud and all others are at 6weeks and going another 2 for sure maybe 3. came to me via clone..smells identicle to some skunk i ran years back..and theres alot of trich action starting to pick up and aroma..so i have no way of telling the breeder...but it looks like the real macoy
Iv'e got some bb going from seeds now just flipped to 12/12. so what your saying is look for a skunky smell?

Heres some ladies fairly close..ahhh cant wait..ahh give em there time...ahh

there were vegged under a 4 and a 6 so 1k...flowered with a additional 1000watter= 2k hps

and yes a/c the window type 10,000BTU..has been making my garage miserablely hot..but my op frosty cold..will be switching to a portable, or split..maybe even a chiller 1 day perhaps
Hey Tilemaster, got any pics of your setup? Asking because my garage can get up to 100F+ in the summer, so I figured that I needed to get an 18000BTU minis-split installed, but if I can just buy a window AC and figure out how to mount it in the garage, that'd be preferable to me.

And I'm chopping down today or tomorrow from my 1KHPS.

Here's a coupla pics..............they're from about three weeks ago, but you can see the light-bleaching already (flowered too late, and the tops are within 6" of the light).

i had 2 1000's on a mover. wasnt impressed, they are cool tube hoods, so hard to vent on the go anyway. so i added another 1000 and an extra 400, so now i have 3.4k. havent regretted it yet. powers higher, but yeilds are twice as high too

So I know someone already asked this... but only one person answered.

How close can I get a 1000w HPS to the plants without there being too much light? I'm not worried about heat, have a cool tube and a big fan.

I'm going to put a 1000w vertically in my 2' x 3' closet. Overkill, maybe. Lot's of bud, pretty much for sure.

So I just picked up a 1000 watt switchable system and got a great deal on it to boot. After seeing some of the grows here I am really stoked to get things rolling with my new light.

I was also wondering about the distance I should be putting my light from the garden?

Cheers,
BR.

I had mine in a home made cool tube. The only bud that had any bit of light bleaching was one about 6 inches away from the bulb. I think the distance would have to be quite a bit further if the bulb was bare.

I was really happy with how dense and big the buds were. Only downside is the electric bill. Oh well.

Glad to see someone in the 1000w club... I thought it was dead.

Thanks glad to be in the club, well for the deal I got on the light I couldn't pass it up, it was pure luck I found that light...lol. I can live with the extra 30-40 dollar electric bill to get the best light for my babies. I will be going with a bare tube set up for now so if I figure correctly the light should be a couple of feet from the plants to start with. Now that I have my light I will be posting in this thread often throughout my grow.

Cheers,
BR.

I just joined the club!! I had been vegging under 10 2' T5s then my friend let me borrow his 600w HPS. I used that to veg for 2 more weeks, and this weekend went out hunting for a light setup of my own. I had found a complete 600w kit online but didnt want to wait a week for it to ship. I couldnt find a 600w setup locally, but I did get offered a complete 1000w setup, 6" air cooled, hortilux bulb for a great deal. I also picked up a dual arc bulb that burns HPS and MH at the same time! I can use this light for flower and veg now and can use my T5s for a veg chamber for mothers :D I also picked up a Hydrofarm fan with a 4" intake to better ventilate the light and move air out of the grow area. This light is significantly cooler than the 600w I was using that did not have a lens and we should be past the hot days, so my grow area should be nice and cool from here on out. I will only be growing 2 plants at a time under this light most of the time, maybe 3. Should do the trick well I think!

So I got my 1000 w system today... hehe got it a day early... set it all up and ran the power wires into the grow box so it's all nice and pretty. Fired up the system and a few seconds later everything was nice and bright. I currently have my light set at about 3 1/2 feet from the plants as I didn't know exactly where it should be set to. The temp. went up real fast in the box and I had to add a 3rd fan to bring it to something reasonable... currently I am sitting stable at 91 with a humidity of 32%. I still have to add my passive vents to the bottom walls of the grow box as well as the other door and exhaust fan with carbon filter. But the budget is tight so my carbon filter and exhaust fan will have to wait a little bit. I still haven't put the floor in yet.... been getting side tracked with other house hold projects.

Questions... is my light pla-cement good where it is at right now... should I move it up or down any more?
... I noticed my ph in the soil went up to 7.5-8 in two of my pots... is this normal and if not what should I use to correct the issue?

As always ... everyone's input is always welcome... better to learn from others mistakes then to try and reinvent the wheel..

Cheers,
BR.

Looking good sinistry. Those dual spectrum bulbs really kick ass. I too found one for a great deal. Just love the light it gives off. Looking forward to seeing your progress.

I think the light looks good where it is for now. Don't want to fry those babies. As they get some more roots to them you can drop the light lower, Keep the stretch down. I've yet to veg with a 1k. I just picked mine up about 2 weeks into my last flowering cycle. Not sure what I'm going to use this round. Might just veg with a 400 to keep my costs down, blah blah. But yeah, I think it's good for now. You can experiment too. As long as the plants look happy, closer is better (in my book at least).

One thing, I would try to get the humidity a little higher. Maybe a humidifier... either that or spray them with water a few times a day. LIttle ones like that like a lot of humidity.

I do hydro so I can't say anything about soil ph... sorry.

peace and good luck

Hey Jig... well after some mucking around with my fans I managed to get the temp down to around 84-85 and raised the humidity up to 40% ... I think it is just going to take some fine tuning once I have all my gear together and installed to get it set up just right. I did notice how fast that light dried up the thin top layer of soil though... wow was that ever fast. I dropped in my meter to see where I was at moisture wise.. top layer reads moist at a solid 7 and if I drop the meter down a couple more inches it reads wet.. at 9-10... I just got done prepping a few water bottles with properly PH balanced water in anticipation of the soil drying out quicker.
I did notice that some of the leaves on the plants were starting to cup a bit... gonna do some reading and see what information is out there on that issue... could be just the shock of being moved under the new light I think. In about a 1/2 hr I am going to go check on them again to see where I am at heat & humidity wise after the lights shut off. Thanks for the info ... much appreciated.

Cheers,
BR.

you might want to cover the soil with some panda film or something... not sure. Like I said I don't know soil at all. But it would probably keep them from drying out so quick.

liquid cooled and on a light mover this custom aeroponic system is really cranking right now! Glad to see other people "wasting electricity" like I do. I couldnt get these results with a 600W and untill they come out with a 1800watt bulb that fits into my liquid cooled this is what i will be running.
P.s the top 13 pics are of my current grow in week 3 flower. I veg for 3 weeks under my 1000watt hps after I get roots on clones under T-5's
