The 2010Cann-Bust Cup Award

With the real Cannabis Cup awards being held here soon, I thought it be an excellent time to start a post for THE WORST STRAINS of 2010.

Lets compile a list of the worst stinkers, then later I will post a thread with poll in it so we can have a vote.

After the winner is announced I will get a small, cheap plastic trophy cup (you know the kind, its given to the fat kid who finished last in the potato sack race) and place some rubber dog shit in the cup. I'll take a picture of it, post it and announce the winner. I will also mail it to the winning (losing) breeder.

First let me lay down the ground rules of the competition:

1. The strain must be new from the breeder, and produced from the fall of 2009 to the present.
2. The strain must be a bad strain, and not just a plant that gave you problems. In other word, the strain was consitantly shitty for everyone that grew it. We dont want to bag on the breeder (too much), even a good company comes out with a bad product every now and then (remember New Coke?)
3. Name the strain, the breeder, and post pics (if you have them) of the mutants.

So if you wasted money and time on a bad strain, now is the time to get your fustration out and get a good chuckle at the same time.

I would like to nominate Nirvana's Northern Light Femenized Auto Flower.

Nirvana advertise this strain as auto flower that would finish three weeks early, veg for three to five weeks, stay short/small, and produce about half as much as the normal Northern Light. The key selling points of the plants was that you would save time and space with these plants and get to smoke your bud faster than if you had grown the normal plant.

The strain was a complete failure. First, the strain would not autoflower, and must be forced with flower with 12/12 lighting. This cause many people to veg the plant for months due to the fact they were waiting for the auto flower to kick in. Second, the strain gets huge. I have a plant now that is 10 weeks old and it just hit the four foot mark! They are monsters. In short (or tall), the plants took four weeks on average longer than the normal strain, got just as tall, if not taller, and still yeilded half as much as a normal strain. The plant failed to do a single thing it was advertise to do, except yield low (not = )

For these reasons I have to give this strain the .

I'd like to nominate the entire autoflower line by Nirvana, but since I only grew the the Northern Light, I'll stick to just nominating it.

I bumping this to see if I cant get some interest. I think this could be fun, just need a few more nominations.

Im thinking maybe only nirvana came out w/ a bad line otherwise there would be more listed. i think also this is in the wrong forum.

I NOMINATE NIRVANA SHORT RIDER AUTO, none of my motherfuckers auto'd, not one, unstable genetics is one thing, but how can you even lie about it being stabalized when 0/10 auto'd? And I ran into several other growers who had this same problem...When I finally broke and switched the to 12/12, they all came out male...every last one of the bitches, as opposed to the short stuff auto assassin, which auto'd and all survivors (3/5) were girls...Since then I've been experimenting with 12/12ing traditional strains, and the results have made me regret fucking with auto's alltogether, but I won't hold that against the shortrider, only that it failed to do what it was sold to do. A complete fucking waste of time and space...

I have others that I would love to add to this list, but I'm sure they're all to old to make the cut, so I'll leave that alone...

I don't go for autoflowers anyway, but I'd really advise people to do plenty of research before picking one up. Nirvana have basically admitted they totally fucked up with their autos. Heard terrible things about Dutch Passion's "autos" as well. It's a bandwagon that a lot of seed companies are jumping on without bothering to get things straight and do adequate quality control first. Shame to see a lot of people getting caught out by them.

I've heard alot of complaints about Nirvana's short rider latley . . . from failed germ, to AF, to only producing males.

But this is good, so now we have two canadates: NL AF and Short Rider.

This may be harsh, but at this point I see auto's as a marketing scam, they're really don't have a plus side...

Not harsh at all. I can totally see financially why the bigger breeders like Nirvana and D.P. are doing it, but their reputations are taking a total pounding because of it!

I dont think its harsh either. There some good AF lowriders out there and I can see why cabinet and PC growers use them.

Any other nominations?

I NOMINATE NIRVANA'S BLUE MYSTIC AUTO, when I first ordered the auto BMs, I did so because I was growing in a pc case and was told they grew small with little to no smell. Well for feminized seeds, they turn out to be more males than females. Nirvana sent me some more BM seeds from a different breeder and these bitches turn out to be anything but auto flowering and sure as hell couldn't grow them in my pc case. I had to switch to 12/12 to get them to flower and they did smell. It's day 48 and I was told the BMs would been done between 5-7 weeks from seed. Well they are not done yet and I got huge plants 2.3 and 3 feet tall. Nirvana gave me credit to purchase whatever seeds I wanted. I decided to go with the regular seeds, if I'm going to get males, might as well take the pollen to make seeds. I hope to never have to purchase seeds again for Master Kush or Northern Light.
