The Best Fertilizer

Im starting a new grow soon and judging from the last plants i need a new and much better soil mixture to grow in, so wats the best fertilizer i can buy, used MG last time and it didnt go very well so wat ever u say plz dont say Miracle Grow

I am trying out Fox Farm Ocean Forest and Dr. Earth Potting Soil. I used MG Organic and I am not very impressed.

ya seems like im getting alot of shit for saying mg isnt that good but imma try out some of the forest stuff see how it goes

plane o potting soil is better then mg i no i trid it to

just steer clear of anything with moisture crystals in it, I made that mistake with a soil called "Sta-Green". I am in week 5 of flowering in 3gal buckets and I only have to water once with this Sta-Green soil. It's giving me major nute lock problems and ph issues.

idk ive been reading and i have seen it more than once that MG causes alot of stress on the plants because of uneven mixtures in each bag so ill be sure to stay away from it

Making your own mix is always a good way to go, I get a bag of Sunshine Mix #4, add a large bag of VermiBlend, throw in a little bit extra of my favorite additives (sea kelp, humic acid, more microbes, more bat guano, more earthworm castings) and some perlite, and I am ready to rock 'n' roll.
But I've used Fox Farm and I like the Happy Frog the best, some people like to mix the Happy Frog and Ocean Forest together, but that is a little strong for young plants, Happy Frog is kind of strong for young plants, you should definitely just start them in something inert. You can always try Black Gold or Roots Organic, but last time I opened a Roots Organic bag I was attacked by a swarm of fungus gnats! Argghhh, never again!

The easiest and best option is to go down to your local nursery or composting site and ask them if they do custom mixes, and if they know what they are doing, they absolutely do make custom mixes.

Realize this though, soil and fertilizer are two different things, fertilizer is added to the soil as you grow to continuously feed your plant. As far as liquid fertilizer goes, the only stuff I have used that is organic is General Organics and BioBizz. Both are fantastic.

Well do u know wat a good mix to ask for would be so i know wat to ask for, would the mix u said work.

i just need something i can trust will work and not fuck with my plants or have me panicking to get extra nutes ect

I use more than these, but my top three are:

Alfalfa meal
Kelp meal
Earthworm Castings

A lot of gardeners swear by the square foot gardening growing medium called Mel's Mix. 1/3 compost, 1/3 vermiculite, 1/3 peat moss. Seems a lot of them use compost tea and worm castings as fertilizer.

There is a saying in gardening: Feed the soil, not the plant. A lot of folks use a healthy dose of organic material so the microorganisms will thrive (worm castings, guano, compost, kelp, egg shells, compost tea, bone meal, blood meal, fish emulsion, etc.).

Also, use mulch and make sure the soil is properly watered so you don't stress the plants too much (not too much water, and not too little).
If you want a readily available, store bought, non organic fertilizer...at the very least try to find something with some micronutrients.

You've got allot of good advice here. I'm with wet on the main 2 alpha, kelp and worm castings. However, as fertilizer blends go I'm a fan of Espoma. I do keep some around in outside gardening for a little slow release. It organic and its cheaper than most organic fertilizer you can find.

Big +1 on the Espoma.

I've used it in the past with excellent results. Lot's of good stuff in there.
