I'll agree to a point. MJ Will grow in just about any soil, but how well it grows is another mater. The closer the soil is to the plants native soil the beter it will grow.
I think MJ grows better in coco than soil.

as for the family farm. If they were growing much of anything they used nutes of some kind. farm critters produce nutes but thats a hard way way to feed your crops.
nutes... ha... nope.. don't think they had nutes

i've seen my pops grow some stuff in a backyard before, but i never seen him spray anything besides water on his plants.... i can be wrong, but like i said.. they were raised on farms, and they know how to work with what they got... and farmers don't rely on critters to give their crops the nutes it needs... farmers are kind of scared of critters to a point... but as far as nutes... i beleive thats where composting and using your farm animals manure comes into play... so basically, everything is home made... they don't go online looking for anything... i don't even think most farmers care about going online... so many of these products we discuss, isn't really used by farmers for their crops because they don't know about them...

but i do understand where you're coming from...

and to know what the plant native soil is... you must know your strain... so in reality, this is also a wrong assessment...

plants grown in carribean soil, in the mountains... is different then the soil in Colorado...

it totally depends on u some people talk bad about mg but i have had astonishing results ..at the moment i now use happy frog which is a fox farm product as well i like it because it is organic, light, good for seedlings, etc
Ok awesome do you use the happy frog jump start or the organic potting mix?

Happy frog seems cheaper, it will cost me 40$+ for ocean forest fox farm to get shipped to my house I got to find a soil that is almost as good.

I use the happy frog organic potting mix with perlite the entire grow(the perlite in my opinion is important) and yes it is a little cheaper than ffoc but alot of people argue that its better than ocean forest because ocean forest is too hot especially for seedlings...hope this helps:bigjoint:

its interesting... i don't know about these name brands you're speaking of... but i still get good results... but good luck on your grow... i use a cheap soil for 2 dollars...some other soil for like 4 dollars... plus MG... a lot of soil in all.. plus MG is hot for seedlings, so the 2 dollar soil that doesn't have NPK reduces the NPK in the MG.. they respond to the mix way better than i thought they would... then when its time for my first transplant, thats when i add perlite.... but basically, what i'm saying... many things are trends and you can find things just as good for less... just gotta know what you're looking for
