The big switch, HPS to LED

Been debating this for a few years now. Data shows LED at full spectrum while in flower is better then the HPS. Just wondering if any of you have done this yet. I am a commercial grower and need every square inch of my grow room to produce. Any real hands on data would be super appreciated

We don't have many commercial growers around here. But we have many growers who have made the switch from hps to led.

@DoubleAtotheRON is just about the only guy I know on site who's running a fully lit Led commercial size grow.

Search his name in the search box, he has a good journal documenting his grow .

He's using hlg550 v2s if I recall.
I will definitely do that. Thanks brother

Pulled up from Google. Been searching it for a few months now. More info points to bigger denser buds. Thats why i asked if any of you guys have done this yet. Hence the post i made
Most of that stuff on google is from LED light companies. I'd take it with a grain of salt. Each form of lighting technology has it's pro's and con's. It's not a black and white this one is better than that one. I've seen the same quality and yield from both technologies. I can grow as good of weed with as good of yield growing under HPS as anyone using LED. As do many others. Light is one of the most important aspects of growing but other factors need to be appreciated as well. I see many growers dumping tons of money on expensive LED's and still ending up with crappy grows. I've seen many growers myself included using HPS and killing it. Both LED and HPS will grow excellent cannabis.

Well the heat is a huge issue and causes more electric for inline fans to run. For me i need the most bang for my buck at minimal cost

Damn thats a grow room. Great set up. I see no air ducting. That was another question i had was about heat
Hes running full a/c with heat pumps and co2...hes not exhausting heat, hes cooling the room when needed.

Also led rooms need to be much warmer than HPS rooms(unless running co2) We usually want the rooms in the 82-85f range to help for the lack of ir in the leds compared to hps.

Thats super cool. See thats an entire different set up. Just wonder how much more overhead he has compared to HPS grow or if its less

This is why i made this post. Minus the sarcasm though. Info and knowledge is what this site is about. Oh i bet you grow the best buds in the world huh
you are a commercial grower and you are worried about ventilation?
I dont know where you are located, but here they pull your licence for inadequate ventilation as its a health risk

if this is to be your bread and butter i wouldnt risk leds.
i have seen whole warehouses run fine with 2 -3 12 inch exhausts

Well if you need 8 fans then thats a problem huh. COMMERCIAL GROW brother
Commercial or not bud, every decent grower running any room understands the need for heating and cooling and co2 exchange. impossible to run a room that size successfully without a/c, or one hell of a active intake setup, somehow.

Also 400-500 watts of fans shouldnt be much on a commercial grow overhead

upfront cost of the lights, everything else should be the same....moving forward he should be saving big on electricty on the lights, a/c running less etc...

running a room full of hps, one would need a/c and normally be running co2 and sealed. So same equipment after you buy the lights.

But if i dont need them like i would in a hps grow then why have them. I messaged him and waiting for his response. His room is bigger then what i want to do. Probably half that size since i dont have a grow licence
