The cable guy says my grow is messing with the internet?

dude thats so wierd as soon as i read this i see someone setting up fios next door to my 150 scary!!!! lol

So being my paranoid self, after he leaves I send all 5 of my babies down the garbage disposal. I'm sure he know "something" was going on by how I would not let him into one area and refused to elaborate on what it was I was turning off and on; and you know his buddy will hear the story, his supervisor will hear his story, and it will be documented in my account.

SO, do you think I made the right call by bailing? I'm not losing my kids and doing 6 months minimum for a plant.

ALSO, has anyone heard of anything like this? The guy said maybe the outlet was wired wrong in the wall and the electricity im using is causing "noise" in surrounding neighborhood.

Do you have any of the cables for you internet running over the lights, as that will slow data through put forsure, if so then re-run the cable and try to stat at lease 10 feet from the light(s), and you should have no more internet problems (cablewise)...

Dude erock you can get your card for anything. ANYTHING! The list starts with AIDS and ends with nightmares. When I got mine the doctor was in the room across from me with doors open. The patient told the doctor word for word "my dad died a couple of years ago and when I smoke I feel closer to him " he replied with " oh of course it is very spiritual" no one is turned down

If you wrap the ballast in tin foil tightly without without letting air onto it (which would defeat the purpose because RF could escape) you could make the ballast too hot and create a fire hazard, I think.

Its been nearly 24 hours and my house is still standing. No complaints from the cable company either. Maybe its just the weekend? Anyways, I suppose part of the problem could be related to my cable cord running UNDERNEATH my grow box :D. I'll let you know in a couple days if the cable guy gets off my back.

People need to fucking support 19! NORML fully supports it. He's right; the people who are going to vote "No" are just worried about losing money. I know for a fact there will be a shitload of growers voting "No" in northern Cali, unfortunately.

The Cable guy?? whos cares about the cable guy i never heard of anyone getting busted by the cable guy.......think about it , the cable company are more greedy than anyone if they get you arrested whos going to pay your cable bill?? they would be out a customer and out 100 bucks a month from there greedy lil greasy fingers......second of all i dont know where you live but where i live comcast is the Major cable company and they dont have shit togeather when i call them i talk to someone in mexico its a billion dallor company with thousands of employess all over, you think they have time to worry about some pot heads closet grow?? doubt full......I cant even get them to spell my name right on the bill let alone but togeather 2x2 equals grow room...... WHY is your grow in the open anyways??? why is it by your cable??? so many things sound wrong in the way your doing things

Also if you live in Ca or another legal state why the hell are you growing without your doctors note in the first place??? thats just crazy, thats like driving with out car insurance just waitng to get caught..... JUST go pay your 100 bucks for the year get your doctors note and then when the cable guy comes in you can say hey fix my cable and dont F*ck with my plants over there and take your shoes off too buddy.....haha

Next time be smart about it and if you use a magnetic ballst you dont have the interferance but i use a digital dont mess with my cable at all so i dont know ..... Next time call me ill take your plants or shit go out someplace and plant them in the ground in the middle of the night .........anyone but the garbge dispossle thats inumane torture to the plants...... did the other plants have to watch while they waited for there turn?? :(

So I have come to the conclusion that the issue was related to how close my growbox was located to my modem/cord. When Comcast had an issue, the box was in my office literally 6 inches from the modem/cord and the RFI was riding out to the cable box and causing "noise" which drew attention to my house. Since I have moved my office to a different room, I have been running my setup for almost a week now with no complaints.

I hope this helps someone else out in the future!

Not to sure about where you live but there's up to a $5000 reward where I live for turning in growers a good deal for a the cable tech not so much for his company though

Exactly. While the corporate entity has no interest in busting someone, how do you know the worker, on an individual level, wont get a kick out of playing the "good guy"?

I had the same issue. turns out it was related to a second cable box in my house. They just put a filter on that line and so the box cannot "call out" to the main office. Noise stopped after that but that box cannot use on demand. No biggie I switched to another provider weeks later.

I just had my cable shut down yesterday. They called today and said the same thing about noise and want me to set up an appointment. I think I'm just going to cancel service. I can't risk someone seeing the grow and I think it would be shady for me to be dead set on not letting anyone in.
Damn just when I was getting started here... I can browse & post thru my phone but can't post any pics for journals and whatnot

Crazy man!!!! I'd be worried the cable guy would NARC me too. Our state will likely never legalize, not even for medicinal use. There are some creative ways in hiding it from service workers, I know I have in the past. It is the odor that always worries me, seems I can never have enough odor control.

I would think that cable guy went back to work/home whatever and told the weird story of the day. Or maybe he entered it in the field service ticket when he closed it.

Either way your gambling that he doesn't a) figure it out or b) doesn't tell someone who knows exactly what it is.

Okay, so here is what i found out:

I had my light running to see if he cable company would come back since I moved my modem/cords. They did. The guy was awesome though and figured out that the light was generating RFI on a large scale through my house. This is not a problem usually, but I had several cords in a couple outlets throughout my home which were not connected to anything. He found out that the RFI was jumping onto these semi-antennas and showing up in their system. I now have my lights on and the guy showed me the signal, NO NOISE!

Prevention?
If this is a problem for you, make sure all your cables are away from your grow, and MAKE SURE ALL CABLE CORDS ARE CONNECTED TO SOMETHING. Also, frayed ends sticking out from the caps of the cords can catch the RFI and cause the noise.

hmm i dk abt the cable guy, but i had my elec shuit off for 1 year , about two years ago... and when the electric guy came to turn it back on we hung out and drank beers and picke dup girls walking by my patio... he was cool, but i avoid getting cable just bc of the fears u guys have... cable guys just seem not as cool
