btw. i dont get what they did on the newest china lights.
Having the driver on the heatsink isnt the best idea, but then also cover the driver even more in a enclosure to trap some air, why?? yes there are a few slots for air exchange...but.... still...can be done better.

Could someone please explain the difference in the v2, v3 and v4 boards?

I've already bought 5x QBs from kingbrite, so far I'm more than pleased with the quality and the flower they have been producing. Now I'm working on replacing my entire grow with all QBs! But I have a few questions if someone wouldnt mind walking me through this.

First off, here's what I'm running in my 4x8...

2x 3000k 240w lm301B qb288 with epistar 660 nm
2x 3500k 240w lm301H qb288 with IR, UV + 660nm

My first question, does the uv and ir really matter?

Next I'd like to run 2x 300w in my 5x5. But I'm having trouble deciding what spectrums and which boards are best for the money

Also what's the difference between lm301b and lm301h

Have you noticed a difference between your harvest between the two sets of the board was it negligible at best?

Im also very interested in comparison results, these uv + ir (which generally means far red, not actual 850nm infrared) have been all over the place recently, many people asking regarding these. Though i believe the amount of uv and wavelength wont be enough to make much of an appreciable impact in yield or potency.

I might try to build some uv+ir sheets myself.

We haven't seen enough evidence (side by sides) to say how effective uv and ir is.

The lm301h is supposed to have a coating over the diode to protect it a grow room situation, its the same chip though.

So I have two quotes for the BXEB strips @ 3000k @ 90 CRI

Digikey wants @ $6.15 per strip for BXEB-L0560Z-30G2000-C-C3 while a distributor in Hong Kong for Bridgelux quoted $5.6 for the same strip, the MOQ for either or is 100 units or a box of strips. The Hong Kong contact quoted a lead time of 2 weeks for the product while Digikey quoted 6 weeks.

for those that found the Digikey slim gen 3 strips to long for their tents, there is an option the regular and options are nice

Greetings!

First off, this is a great thread full of knowledge. So much information that it's hard to digest it all.

I have a question for you fine folks.

Currently running a 4x8 table in my grow room with 2 x 1000 watt hps. I would like to add another 4x8 table but use qb as the lighting.

I love the idea of lots of boards driven softly. I would like to run about 60 watts/sqft as that has been working great with the hps. Correct me if that's overkill, but I reckon not.

I'm a little intimidated to completely build my own by ordering the boards from Alibaba, sourcing sheet metal locally for heat sinks, and driver's locally. Just unsure about wiring and selecting drivers...

I did build a 12 light cob rack, but followed the guide on ledgardner, so it was step by step of what to buy and how to assemble.

Would love some input on how you guys would best go about covering a 4x8 table with QBs and how to go about selecting appropriate drivers?

Budget is not a huge concern, but I would much rather try and do it myself then go with the hlg or other premade fixtures.

If youre in open space id use fotop boards; 3 of them per 4x4. Check out @WeedSexWeightsShakes grow, you might have to dig around a bit for some youtube vids.
60w is defo overkill try 30 or up to 40 if you want higher hanging heiight

Wiring is easy parallel from wagos, 3 boards oon a 480 driver thru wagos is the beesknees. Also: no need for heatsink for under 200w on these boards. Using 3 boards per tray is much easier than 8-9 as connections drop to a third.

Yes, I use the Disco boards.
I've been running them for over a year now, 75 watts per board.
Very impressive for 'no name' diodes on my boards.
No diodes out yet.
Here's a bit of testing I done on them below.

Check out atreum lighting. Tested vrs qbs on ledgardener forum and came out the same. Thanks for the recommendation!!! Just bought 2 288.2 lights and heatsinks... Next week I get the driver... Didn't think I could find this in the US!!!

So your saying the gen 3's do come in 560mm lengths? The gen 2s have 112 diodes and gen 3s have 119 diodes, this had me wondering if they got more efficiency out of the diodes or it had something to do with a new configuration. And will 560mm gen 3's have the same efficiency?

What's the catch ordering from places like "components-mart" or "infinite-electronics" based in Hong Kong? 560mm gen 2s , minimum 50 at $2.8. A while back I noticed a HK based vendor had 200minimum at $2.43 for gen 2 560mm. Shipping and taxes on these make up the difference?

Came across infinite electronics the other day when searching, literally half price. I know there will be import duties and shipping and possibly zero warranty due to the cost of returns.

Sent an enquiry for 10 drivers to get an idea on how much shipping would be, I know it would be an extra 20% on duties for me.

Check out youre local bridgelux distributor, i get better prices than digi and arrow thru them. Also with the possibility to pay standard vat (which can be deducted here if ordered cleverly) rather than import duties (which cannot be deducted here). Nott sure of the uk situation though

It was more the drivers I was looking at, $20 for a hlg240h , putting aside the warranty issue.
But they just emailed me back and they have a minimum order value of $500. (@boybelue )

Edited so nobody tries using them off the back of what I said.
