Are there better spec strip type fixtures on there?

Both models will definitely do the trick. I think the second link you provided is their 2020 model. There’s tons of strip fixtures on Alibaba and it’s hard to weed through them without hearing about real life experiences from users. Never trust what an Alibaba company tells you in terms of PPF outputs, spheres or “top bin” claims.

As long as they’re real Osram & Samsung diodes, they will all do the same thing. Sure you may loose some efficiency with companies using mid bin diodes, but unless you are growing on a large scale, or have your grows dialed in to a T, you won’t notice the loss of efficiency.

So how crucial is the uv/ir? I’m finally about to order some now that they’re taking orders but now I’ve realized there are nicer newer models available. I was between 2 of the kingbrite 320w v3 or the v4, but now am thinking of the uv factor. Is it worth the extra coin? Are you guys having good experiences? This will be for a 4x4 tent. Thanks guys!

Who needs strips if you space your boards 18" apart in rows. Strips better for customizing a foot print on a rack or so. Its just another option. for small rooms or tents boards work good for me.

Just a couple of my thoughts and opinions on the strips and boards.

I really like the strip lighting from Meijiu. It’s uniform across the canopy, I can bring them in close and no hot spots. Totally fill a 9x5 with light with two 800 watt 10 bar (2500 led) custom fixtures.

They also cost 3x per tray to light. (fixture cost)

I use two Bava’s in a 4x4. So like 500 watts basically. Lovely lights but I can’t bring them as close and the spread isn’t as uniform. I used to have three fixtures and dimmed them but it was a pain in the ass positioning three. I sold one.

Thing is. I like the spectrum from the Bava more. 2700 /4000 k with the 385/660/730 nm. Very nice.

My Meijiu are basically the same. Just 3000k. So I only use them for flower. The far red 660 is on the left and the right is the 380/660/730 version.

Still comparing them. Only two runs in.

So in summary. Go for strips and get a balanced spectrum. Expect to pay more. Get them custom. Don’t get a lame 4-5 strip for a 4x4. Get more strips. More uniform spread.

I love the UVA. It’s annecdotal. But I think it brings more frost.

Here’s my 9x5. Waiting for some Tut plants to root up 2 gallons and then in they go under a screen for flip.

That light spread gets me hard every time.

No he is not running 500 watts through two boards. He is running 500 watts through two 2 board 240 watt Bava kits. So between 120-125 watts per board.

How do I wire these boards to the driver ? Do I split the wire at the driver 4 ways (4boards) or can I daisy chain each board to each other?

That's plenty of light. I had 3 bava 240's and I had to dim them.

I put two bava 240's at 18" and roughly the same apart and they are perfect.

I am blown away on the output of these new lights.

The more lights, the more even the canopy. The easier you can run them. More lights cost more money. Find your balance.

The canopy on those meijiu ten bars is very very uniform and I can run the lights closer. I only ran them at 600 watts each last run.

The bavas have to be higher away and the canopy is not as even.

It still works fine with the lesser amount of lights spread, it's just a matter of how far do you want to tune your hobby?

The penetration I get with the Meijiu's is insane. You don't see under canopy shadows the same as other lights. It's pretty neat-o.

After reading the ample advice here I thought I'd share my experience with the two leading companies featured here, Meiju and Kingbrite.

While I'm sure these companies make great lights, I highly recommend anyone that doesn't live in China or the U. S NOT TO ORDER from either of them.

At first I ordered a 240W kit from Meiju. I made sure to inquire about their delivery estimate, whether they have the lights in stock and if the Coronavirus is affecting their shipping schedule. They replied that delivery time is 10 days via FedEx and that I should not be expecting delays in shipping. A week passes since my order is placed and suddenly my order is stuck at a warehouse and the Chinese support guy actually tells me I should have expected delay claiming the shipment is with FedEx but there is no tracking number. After two weeks Meiju send me another message saying the lights will be further delayed and if I want I should ask for a refund. I obviously do that thinking this is the worst customer service ever

Then I tried Kingbrite. You cannot make this shit up that the exact same story happened only here after 10 days of no communications from them about the status of my order I myself had to ask for a refund.

So unless you live in a country where either of these companies have a warehouse in, do not believe anything they tell you about shipping and delivery times.

Better to pay a little more for quality lights and quality customer service than waste a month of crucial time waiting for lights that may or may not come.

I wouldn't be counting on quick delivery times.

From Meijiu my lights took about 4 weeks. They were custom so no biggie.

From Bava it took about 10 days tops. They were pre made.

Now with this chinese virus floating around, it may take alot lot longer. And you may want to wipe off changs spit with some rubbing alcohol. /jk kinda

That sucks homie. I know what it's like when you have your eyes set on something, researched, and dropped the hammer... only to have it delayed.

At least you were offered a refund. I would expect the coming months are going to be unpredictable all around when it comes to orders from China.

I will say I am pleased with the lights from both places and their customer service. It was as expected, which is all I can ask.

A lot of the problems are caused by FedEx, if you live in these countries where they can use the local postal service, deliveries are usually very fast.
First HLG clone I purchased was advertised with '7 day shipping delay', arrived within 3 days (January).
Second HLG clone I purchased, arrived 4 days later (last week).
Both were under $160 including shipping.

Nothing is predictable right now in terms of shipping, whether international or national.

I don't blame them for the international shipping delays I blame Meiju and Kingbrite for blatantly lying about them to get you to spend money first. This was my experience, doesn't mean it'll happen to you but as long as this pandemic is on I imagine it's likely to affect other others too.

I could post the screenshots of how rude they were, but my post wasn't meant to start an argument about these companies or diss the quality of their products. The goal was to make sure anyone in my position who is trying to save money by going Chinese from Meiju or Kingbrite know the risks. Other companies might be OK, I haven't tried Bava for example.

If you're abroad and can afford to wait endlessly without getting concrete shipping time, then you can still save with them. But if you are short on time then you might want to look elsewhere for a local company with reliable customer service.

This is just my two cents not tryna antagonize anyone and cheers to those who managed to order before this pandemic began and are happy with their meiju/Kingbrite lights
