The difference between a caregiver and a dealer

I think I've discovered what the difference between a caregiver and a dealer is, and it's really all about money. Now, I've dealt with a lot of dealers over the years, and up until a few weeks ago the MMJ scene here in Colorado seemed like more of the same, just legal.

However, I've had to revise that opinion since I switched to my current caregiver on my sisters recomendation (she knew his wife). First off, the man hasn't tried to get me to spend every penny he could squeeze out of me. He hooked me up with my first set of clones, drove 50 miles to deliver them to me and help me set them up (including picking up the soil on the way), charged me less then half the going rate for the clones, under charged me for the soil by about $3, then let me sample about 4-5 different strains of his dried herb to see which one's I liked the best.

A few days ago he stopped by to check on the girls and to bring me some meds, and he brought along a bag worth of edibles the wife had made for me to try out for free. While we were talking about the grow I mentioned that the main reason I'm growing my own is that I can't afford to pay dispensary (or even his much lower) prices on a regular basis, and his response was that If I'm low on meds that he doesn't care if i can pay him or not, give him a call and he'll make sure i get enough to get me through.......

Excuse me? I can't pay you, but you're still going to make sure I have my meds? And you're not talking about taking part of my grow in compensation, charging me interest, etc? Did I just walk into never never land or something? Is that what's it's like to deal with a caregiver instead of a dealer? If so, we need a heck of a lot more of them in the business.

Well said. Real caregivers atcually do 'care'... what a concept. We also care that the Colorado politicians and cops are trying to screw us over. I cannnot WAIT till election rolls around. Payback time!
