The Republicans are just shittier at hiding their apathy for the common man.
You know most of the right leaning people here arnt Republican, they were just voting A.B.O (Anyone but Obama).
Both parties are two sides of the same coin, they just appear different.
In 2007 Citizen's United made a documentary critical of Hillary Clinton, which they tried to air in 2008, shortly before the 2008 presidential election. The documentary was forbidden by the US district court from running. Citizen's United took their case to SCOTUS. SCOTUS decided that free speech is fundamental to the US Republic and a constitutionally protected activity.
No wonder Democrats howl about it. Imagine the nerve of Americans, thinking they have to right to be critical of a Clinton.
Free people have the right to speak their minds, to associate with whomever they please and to spend their money to fund political campaigns as they see fit.
Democrats here on RIU seem to think that opposing the fundamental right to free speech puts them on the moral high ground. It is really pathetic to watch.
Do you really want the government to regulate political speech? Really?
This ruling was frequently characterized as permitting corporations and unions to donate to political campaigns...
The Citizens United ruling did however remove the previous ban on corporations and organizations using their treasury funds for direct advocacy.
Lol, they say "fail" yet Mitt Romney and Barack Obama had virtually identical corporate donors and for virtually the same amounts.

I know most of you don't have the first clue what you are supporting when you criticize the Citizen's United decision by SCOTUS, so I am including the paragraph below. Do you really want the government to regulate political speech? Really?
During the original oral argument, Deputy Solicitor General Malcolm L. Stewart (representing the FEC) argued that under Austin v. Michigan Chamber of Commerce, the government would have the power to ban books if those books contained even one sentence expressly advocating the election or defeat of a candidate and were published or distributed by a corporation or union.[13] In response to this line of questioning, Stewart further argued that under Austin the government could ban the digital distribution of political books over the Amazon Kindle or prevent a union from hiring a writer to author a political book.
so let me get this straight..you're comparing a documentary on a public personality to laws that are voted on in our nation?
this has nothing to do with free speech and has everything to do with outspending a competitor..just like they do in business.
the little guy should have the same opportunity as mr. money bags.
talk about a failure of a post!

Wrong? You mean they disagreed with you, don't you? I see Democrats in substantial numbers disagreed with you also. Perhaps your idea of what is in "the American peoples interests' isn't as cut and dried as you think?50 out of 50 issues republicans got wrong and went against the American peoples interests
A poll of one - PadaWhich American people's interests? Or was it a poll they took on a couple folks that they hand picked?
