lol, yah, i'm sure living and being in a band with a personality like jim morrison was no easy task, that is for sure.. when he really started to get into his drinking and drug use, it looked like he was more than a handfull...
i really enjoyed the doors movie as well.. don't know how much of it was true or not, was a good insight into the band i thought..

Yeah performing live with jim seemed very difficult, just because of the need for extensive musicianship by the rest of the doors! fuck the doors movie i mean its a good watch but watch When You're Strange, tons of amazing footage its amazing! :)

hate to admit that i've never seen it, but i'll check it out on your recommendation, i'm sure i'll love it though...
there's this chic i went to hs with that was like the biggest burnout freak chic i've ever met, probably till this date 20 years later, lol.. anyhoo's, she used to always say that when she would drop acid jim would come to her and tell her to take more of it, lol..

I have all the vinyl albums, and the best of on disc. Sometimes, I will chill out, sit back and play a few albums while inhaling the heady aroma of both the tunes and the smoke. The Doors do make a great companion to the herbage, filling the void with heady intoxicating instances of soulful retrospection and awakenings. Regardless of the personalities or the fact that JM went the way he did (personally I'd like to believe he faked his death, but somehow his being murdered does sort of fit into things... long story and full of heresays), the music never ceases to amaze me.

Is everbody in? WAKE UP! hehe

Club toilet, Heroin. Same guy Janis got her H from at some point, Count Jean something, mysteriously strong and many people died.

yah, his death was very odd to say the least, and supposedly only like two people ever saw his body when he was dead.. the whole thing is shrouded in mystery no doubt..

I deff gotta check out that movie then..i never heard of it actualy but it sounds pretty good.

Jim was an odd dude....his death was just as mysteriuos as he was i guess...i remember back in the day when we were kids we always tried to "break on thru" with acid LOL

if i had the cash id like ot buy that Warhol painting of Morrinson that Pawn Stars has in the showroom..the green one you always see in the background

I like the Doors, as much as any self respecting music nerd. Hard to pick a favorite album but for me I think it may be Morrison Hotel (I love Peace Frogs) or Strange Days.

That being said, I do think there is a lot of better stuff that came out of the era that was/is extremely overlooked. Of all the psychedelic sounds that came from America and the U.K, there were a lot more innovative and experimental sounds coming out of Germany's Krautrock scene. Groups like Can, Ash Ra Temple, Faust, Popol Vuh, Klaus Schulze's stuff, etc. were very jazzy and experimental, and really way ahead of their time. The long tracks, and overall ambiance make these groups better for more serious tripping IMO.
